Fragment  

Fragments can be acquired by Salvaging or Scavenging, however, level 1 fragments have been added to vendors to aid in the ease of leveling this craft. If you are not a salvager or a scavenger, you can either make friends with one or use the AH. Some fragments come from armor, weapons and off-hands while others come from scavenge-able mobs. When you salvage an item with multiple stats, you will be asked which stat you want to salvage. Keep that in mind when you ask someone else to salvage your items.

The rarity name comes before the skill level name for fragments. All fragments have three names. The first is the rarity name, the second is the skill level name and the third is currently unknown, although it looks to be the difference between wording on the tooltip.
