Frightful clan of darkness.
During the Great War, the Demons served as the Shadow Lord's elite guard, ruling over the other beastmen with fear. To ensure the other beastmen were following orders, many of the Demons would act as messengers, traveling to and from Castle Zvahl. When the Great War was over, the Demons vanished. However, with recent rumors of the Shadow Lord's return, there have been Demon sightings in Valdeaunia. While there are many theories about their origin, the most popular one is that the Shadow Lord made a pact with them after traveling deep into hell.
A Demon’s body is covered by a dull, jet-black shell, which is quite tough yet flexible and lightweight. There appears to be some elements of dark iron, but no one really knows what else it is made of. By examining Demon corpses, Ghemp, a Galkan metallurgist, was able to identify traces of welded metal at the joints of the armor. He couldn’t identify the metal, but he could tell it was similar to regular armor. Also, he was able to deduce that the physical frame was not separate from the body of the Demon itself.
The Rhinostery’s own Rukususu conducted her own autopsies, dissecting some Demons from the North. She found blood vessels inside their outer shell and concluded it must, in fact, be an exoskeleton. This is the best theory on the subject to date.
Various theories may surround Demon armor, but there is one inescapable truth: They practically absorb any physical attack and have a strong resistance to magic.
Through great skill in bonecrafting, a Demon’s exoskeleton can be used to make armor. Regrettably though, when the Demon dies, most of the magical power of the exoskeleton is lost.
A helmet crafted from the skull of a Demon with an inner lining of leather. They say that when you wear it, the helmet senses any impending danger and will turn your head to face it. In addition, research has shown that when you sing, the horns oscillate in tune, giving your song a vibrato effect.
A leather harness reinforced with portions of Demon skull. It isn’t simply used for defense, but the power of the skull pieces is absorbed into the wearer, granting them increased strength and boosting their ability to wield Dark Magic.
