Effect: When Counterstance active, the Monk's defense is reduced to 11 + (VIT/2). However, the Monk's base counterattack rate (i.e. not including modifiers from gear) is tripled.

Note that when Counterstance is active, most modifiers to defense are completely negated, including gear and Protect. However, effects that increase or decrease defense by a percentage, such as food or Berserk, still take effect.

Modifiers: If Melee Gaiters are worn when Counterstance is used, the Monk's counterattack rate is increased by another 5%.
