Celebrate the original EverQuest's anniversaries with special in-game events in EverQuest II! Portals to a time ages ago have opened across Norrath. Adventure, intrigue and a flashback to the days of yore await those brave enough to enter the chronoportals!
Portals have opened in Sinking Sands, the Moors of Ykesha, Feerott, Thundering Steppes, Antonica, Steamfont, the Enchanted Lands, and Lavastorm. The mages ask that you investigate them all![1]
For 2015 the level restrictions on the Portal zones has been removed. However, the loot has not been changed.
Each instance has a certain level that it is centered around. Higher levels will be mentored down as necessary but lower levels are not leveled up for them. A player must be at least 10 levels below the level range of the instance to be able to zone in.
The portals are intended for groups, but some may be able to be soloed depending on your real level and class. Every instance has an 18 hour lockout timer upon killing any of the nameds inside. Click through to the zones below to find out more about their history!
Fippy Darkpaw is inside the tower. Tank & spank after dialogues between him and the gnoll advisor. Might want to clear nearby wandering trash mobs before triggering the fight.
Enchanted Lands (Level 30)
Found between the wizard spires and the druid ring at -469, -3, 67
Kill all of the Lava Duct Crawlers in the lava before attacking the giants. You must be inside the lava to be able to fight them. The giants will not teleport into the lava you once the LDCs are dead.
Magus Rokyl and Warlord Skarlon are linked nameds on top of bridge. Attack the Magus first. Turn off your attack when the Magus states to let your destruction flow into him (about every 25% health). Turn attack back on after he states he can no longer hold the power. Once Magus is dead, Warlord will drop quick.
Here is a walkthrough to the Lavastorm portal final encounter from zerotonin:
On pull, the Warlord receives a buff from the Magus that gives him 97% dmg reduction. The Magus therefore must be killed first.
Every 25% the Magus emotes "Yes!!! Let your destruction flow into me..." which signals the start of a recording buff which records all damage done to him. When this buff drops, he emotes "Too much power... I can hold it no longer!" at which point all of the recorded damage is reflected back at you in a spell called Magmal Wrath. This can result in hundreds of thousands of damage being reflected back.
The Magus heals back any damage done to him while the recording buff is active, but he has virtually no HP otherwise and burns down very fast in between buff cycles. The obvious way to get around this is to simply stop attacking every 25% when the Magus emotes and wait for the 2nd emote signaling the end of the recording and burn to the next 25% marker.
Its basically pointless to attack the Warlord either while the Magus is up unless you have a way around the 97% damage reduction. Once the Magus is down however, the killing the Warlord is a simple matter.
After clearing walk around the gravestones to get mummies to spawn. There should be 4 gravesites to do this at. Then listen to the dialogue.
The Ancient Cyclops spawns and the adventurers attack it. The AC will be unkillable at this time. The ranger will then "train" Terrorantula to AC. The Terrorantula will be unkillable until the ranger dies, so let Terrorantula stay on the ranger. Once the ranger is down, Terrorantula becomes killable. Once Terrorantula is down the warrior will become killable, and once the AC kills the warrior, the AC will become killable. It is important that you allow the NPCs in the zone to first grab aggro on Terrorantula and AC to prevent from bugging it.
Allizewsaur (level 84^^^) pops after killing the Aqua Goblin Sacrifice near the large statue. Has a huge aggro range, almost zone-wide. Can be kited with snares.
The final named in each instance drops an exquisite chest with 2 Ancient Platinum Coins, a level appropriate augment and a level appropriate armor or weapon.
Completing all 8 instances gives the suffix title of the Time Traveler.
The merchants Distun Delki at the lighthouse ( 325, -14, 788 ) in Antonica and Erben Delki at -1039, -69, -593 in Commonlands are where you can spend your platinum coins at! Both merchants sell the same items.
