EVE Online Playerbase Manipulates Inferno Features

The Goonswarm. Who would have guessed?

Once again, EVE Online continues to prove how it's the most fascinating MMO in the market. There's the full text on the site, broken down by (apparently not yet banned) players who did the crime, but I can condense it. Effectively, one of the new features of the Inferno update was to revamp Faction Warfare so it gave you a bounty for not only the ship, but for the cargo as well, even though the cargo was recovered. So a bunch of players - Goonswarm, to no surprise - rolled new characters, drove out into the middle of nowhere, nuked passing ships, collected the cargo and reward, and resold the cargo.

When the bug was fixed, they then discovered that the amount of faction loyalty shifted up depending on the value of the cargo, so they manipulated a low-priced item so its value shot up, then they went out and shot ships carrying it to generate billions of points for doing very little. By the time the dust settled, they cashed out over five trillion ISK.

As quoted by the Goon who did the crime, "You have our condolences as we roll around in literal Scrooge McDuck towers full of your ISK. [...] Numerous publord superstars have taken massive losses as we slam buys to nothing, then erect giant, unassailable walls of sells at a price that ensures any stock held by anyone is without value. This last part has been mostly done because we can."

CCP has fixed most of these issues but might not issue bans considering the horrendous oversight on their part. And, honestly, the kind of language Aryth uses on the forum is pretty much EVE player standard.
