Arena Tournament Registration Deadline Extended

In case you thought you missed your chance to register for the Arena PvP tournament with the beginning of phase 3 this week, you're still in luck. Blizzard has reopened registration until Friday at 5 p.m. PDT due to an issue that occured on Monday. Aratil did have some words of advice for players who plan to use this new window of opportunity:

"However, phase 3 of the tournament is already underway and participants are unable to join any existing teams, so new registrants will have to create new teams in order to play. Additionally, you have only until April 6th to meet the minimum requirements of games played to qualify for tournament prizes."

You know you want an armored murloc pet. Forget about the cash prizes, everyone's in it for the murloc. If you're participating in the tournament, let us know about your experiences.

Flask Duration Decreased to 1 Hour in Patch 3.1

According to a post by Bornakk on the official World of Warcraft forums, the effect of flasks will be reduced to only last one hour instead of two once patch 3.1 goes live. However, all recipes will make two one-hour flasks from the same amount of materials.

Here's the dev team's reasoning behind this update: "Our goal with the change was to allow players greater flexibility when determining how long they plan to raid, as currently we were seeing many players balance time spent raiding around flask duration."

For players who have stockpiled flasks, they can trade two-hour Northrend flasks for two of the one-hour versions. You won't be able to do this with flasks from older content, so you may want to consider that as patch 3.1 approaches. You can discuss the change in this thread in our general forum.

Blood of Gladiators TCG Expansion Released

Blood of Gladiators, the eighth expansion set for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, has been released with a focus on PvP and the new Arena theme. There's new Arena location cards, such as Gurubashi Arena, and a new card type called the Dual-Faction Ally to keep the intense battles moving.

For players who like to see in-game rewards, there's three new loot cards available. The common "Sandbox Tiger" spawns a stationary Spectral Tiger ride, the uncommon "Center of Attention" card gives you an Epic Purple Shirt that causes you to strike a pose, and the rare "Foam Sword Rack" lets players fight each other with...well...big foam swords.

If you're on the PTR trying out patch 3.1 and want to see the loot items, head over to Landro Longshot and enter 1111 for the Sandbox Tiger, 2222 for the Epic Purple Shirt and 3333 for the Foam Sword Rack. More information on the Blood of Gladiators expansion can be found here.

Secrets of Ulduar - Primer

Blizzard just sent out some additional information via email to their subscribers about the new instance of Ulduar. Not only are they addressing the dungeon itself, but they have headlined the Tier-8 armor sets, Dual Specialization and many other features in this huge patch we are all waiting for.

New TOU for Battle.net

So Blizzard has taken the time to go over their pre-existing TOU for Battle.net accounts and revise it to account for the new features they have recently added. We ran across the official post over at the Blizzard site and wanted to share it with the community here.  For more information and to see the new TOU in its entirety, click here.

Blizzard Updates Ulduar Testing Schedule

How Important are Add-Ons? Vote in our Forum Poll

We recently reported that Blizzard has formalized design and distribution guidelines for add-ons. There's numerous changes, including the fact that developers can no longer sell their add-ons. Azuarc recently made a poll in our official World of Warcraft forum asking ZAM users for their stance on the topic.

As Azuarc mentioned in his post, some players may feel that add-ons lead to game imbalances (such as old-school Decursive), while others like having some flexibility in how they manage their user interface. Where do you fit in? Vote in Azuarc's poll and let us know. Also, feel free to add some discussion to the thread, such as which add-ons you use the most.

Currently, 44.8 percent (82 users) have said they have quite a few add-ons but could live without them, while 27.3 percent (50 users) depend on their add-ons for crucial information. Eighteen percent (33 users) said they can't do anything without their mods.

Free Talent Respecs Coming in Patch 3.1

In response to a question in the official hunter forum regarding the possibility of a free respec due to the changes in the Survival tree, Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street announced that all characters will have their talent points refunded when patch 3.1 goes live due to the upcoming implementation of the dual spec system.

"That is also one of the reasons we messed around so much with the talent trees. You are unlikely to see so much tinkering for future content patches."

So according to this comment, it would seem that the devs are also using the dual spec feature as a way to clean up the talent trees at the same time. At least you can expect a free respec before you start your foray into the dual speccing.

Last Chance to Register with Phase 3 of Tournament

Aratil has posted a brief reminder on the official World of Warcraft forums to let prospective entrants know that phase 3 of the Arena Tournament begins on Tuesday, March 25, which will be your last time to register.

Teams will be locked down during this phase, so please finalize your team rosters for the home stretch. Participants must remain on their team for the duration of the tournament to ensure prize eligibility.

If you'd still like to participate, this is your last chance. So gather together a popular Death Knight/Paladin/Warlock team and sign up, or try another combination and prove there's more than one way to win this tournament. More information can be found on the tournament page.
