PTR Patch 3.2.2 Notes Released

The PTR patch notes for 3.2.2 have been released, and as we've mentioned, the big news is that Onyxia is being scaled for level 80 players to help celebrate the fifth anniversary of World of Warcraft.

One of the drops will be a rare 310%-speed mount modeled after Onyxia, and Boubouille of MMO-Champion already has some images of the mount, which can be viewed by clicking the picture to the right. Boubouille also has a list of some items that have dropped off Anyxia on PTRs, as well as information on other new mounts and pets coming in this anniversary patch.

You can discuss 3.2.2 in this thread started by NeithanTheWronged in our WoW general forum. You can read the full patch notes below.

Blizzard Sets Up New Twitter Pages

We've received word from Blizzard that the company is preparing to launch Twitter pages for Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo. While the feeds haven't officially been revealed yet, they are currently up and running with one short introductory post each.

According to Blizzard, the Twitter pages will be used in a multitude of ways, from sharing news to running contests and events. Contests should actually kick off soon that will lead up to and run through BlizzCon, and tweets will be made throughout the show.

So if you want to keep up on all the Blizzard games, consider following all three Twitter feeds now in preparation for the official launch of these pages.

Onyxia Being Revamped For Level 80

Part of the 5th anniversary celebration the Onyxia raid dungeon in Dustwallow Marsh will be upgraded to level 80 and have a 10 and 25 man mode. Also for a limited time during the celebration everyone who logs in will receive a Onyxia Brood Whelping pet. This will all happen in the 3.2.2 content patch.

General Vezax Encounter Changes Outlined

Crygil has written a post outlining some changes made to the General Vezax 10- and 25-player encounters in patch 3.2 that weren't mentioned in the patch notes. For the hard mode, the team noticed Restoration druids and Enhancement shamans were relying on Omen of Clarity, Shamanistic Rage and Improved Stormstrike to avoid the mana restrictions. To change this, Omen of Clarity will no longer proc for druids, and Shamans get a healing debuff. To compensate, the mana burden has been eased and health of General Vezax and the Saronite Animus was slashed by 25%.

You can read more about the other changes, such as more consistency in the use of General Vezax's Shadow Crashes, in the full post below.

Arena Season 6 to End as Early as Aug. 25

According to a post by Bornakk, Arena Season 6 could end as early as Tuesday, Aug. 25, which is in less than two weeks. The process to determine eligibility for end-of-season rewards should take about one week. Bornakk warns that players who may be eligible for titles or Furious Gladiator's Frostwyrm shouldn't transfer to another server until Season 6 is over.

Season 7 won't begin until at least one week after the sixth season comes to a close. Team ratings, personal ratings and arena points will be wiped once the seventh season begins in early September. Between seasons, you'll be able to practice with skirmishes.

Here's this week's comic! Hope you're enjoying the patch and the comic.

Blizzard CEO Opens Mouth, All Hell Breaks Loose

Sometimes it's tough being blue. Blizzard, that is; or technically, Activision-Blizzard. It can be easy to forget that the developer/publisher that launched World of Warcraft a few years ago isn't quite the same company it is today. Except, that is, during times like these.

Because of a recent remark made by Activision-Blizzard CEO Robert Kotick about raising the price of video games (and, perhaps, the recent news that StarCraft II's release is being pushed back until 2010), some gamers and MMO fans are on the verge of an all-out, nerd-rage meltdown.

Ghostcrawler Says We'll See 31 Bosses in Icecrown

Despite the fact that patch 3.2, "Call of the Crusade," just launched, WoW fans have continued speculating about what we might see in Icecrown Citadel (that big castle where Arthas is hiding out). In a post over in the official forums (a post that has absolutely nothing to do with this subject, ironically), Ghostcrawler wrote that the upcoming dungeon will feature 31 bosses.

"[...] once we say 'tanking niches' players have visions of the DK who parks outside of Icecrown until boss 4, 17 and 31 (yes, IC is that big)," he wrote. When you consider that dungeons the size of Karazhan only featured half as many bosses, it leads you to believe that Icecrown Citadel could be the largest instanced structure we've ever seen.

WoW.com Claims Leaked Races For Future Expansion

As you might remember, last month we reported that Blizzard trademarked the title "Cataclysm," which led to speculation that the next World of Warcraft expansion would bear that name (and perhaps focus around the events that were set in motion by The Great Sundering). Well, it wasn't long after that WoW.com reported the discovery of new Halloween masks in the game files, depicting two races that will remain nameless until after the jump. (Hey, I don't want to be "that guy" that spoiled you.)

When it comes to "leaked" information, WoW.com has hit just about as many as it's missed. That's why we're reporting that they've reported inside sources have leaked the big one, and "confirmed" to the website what the next playable races in WoW will be (and for which faction). You can check out the site's post here, or click through to the jump if you'd like to know what WoW.com claims the next playable races will be.

Release of BlizzCast 10 Comes with Contest

They talk about the Argent Tournament, Crusaders’ Coliseum, Isle of Conquest and BlizzCon. You can read the transcript or listen to the podcast on the Blizzard site. You can even download an mp3 of the interview to listen to whenever you want.

In addition, Blizzard is celebrating the release of episode 10 with a contest. All you need to do is answer five questions pertaining to the interview and you could win a "Blood Elf Rogue vs. Draeni Paladin" diorama from Sideshow Collectibles, which is worth $299. Check out the rules and submit your answers here. You can find the questions after the jump.
