Is it just me or are people really dumb??Follow

Recently, i have noticed ALOT of posts that are simple to answer.

Example: Someone is trying to look for tin but does not know where to go.

All they had to do was look to the left and type in tin ore into the search box. Then they would find what they were looking for!! Is it really that hard???

it's even less hard to just level up and go to the next area and notice that you suddenly see more tin and iron, etc on your minimap.

but the problem is, the players who love working on tradeskills before they are lvl 10, will be able to get lots of copper ore. once they are done with those recipes, they need tin and they can't find any where they are. somehow they dont ask in-game, or they dont walk north/east/south/west out of the zone to the next one just to explore, they decide to come online to this site and ask instead.

on my first char that wasn't even a miner, i saw all these nodes already. all i did was level up, and it takes me to places like caves where i saw these ore veins.

Maybe its because alot of new WOW players are looking to this site to get help starting out. As veteran WOW players I would hope you would be glad to help these guys out rather than knock them for asking questions and giving the veteran WOW players a bad name.

nope, as a veteran i actually have more disgust at simple questions. the criteria for simple questions may not be readily defined but it does include "where can i find tin" and "what do i kill to get medium skins" type questions.

it does not include "where is the best place to find lots of tin" and "where is the best place to find medium/heavy/thick/rugged leather". there are slight differences in the way the 2 questions are asked.

the first way implies you didnt even bother to try.

the 2nd way implies you know where you can find some, you just want to know where a better/best spot is.

and then of course, there are the questions that could more quickly be answered by asking in-game right where you're standing rather than making another thread on a question that probably is already answered in the first 3 pages of a message forum. i'd say 3 pages is not too far at all to look, even 5 pages. beyond that, it is more reasonable to start a new thread if you want to, and us veteran players will either respond better to it, or link to it because we just saw a similar thread from a few days ago and we can find it easier on this board that we're more familiar with.

well what confuses me is if someone trys to level alchemy before they are even level 10 then they are making potions they can't use, sure they could sell them but not for too much, blacksmiths accually have reasons to do this so they could make good armor for themselves when they are level enough to use it... i just level my skill as the wind strikes and my fancy likes

Dont Reply if you hate n00b question that much.

I like n00bs they sell items with no idea what it is.
For instance a Howling Blade for 4g or a tanglewood staff for 3g50s!!! its because of n00bs i could get my mount (twice!!) at lvl 40.

But then again...they can be anoying!!

This is often done with alts. For example, if you have a toon which uses a lot of high-level potions, but is not an alchemist, it makes sense to create an alchemist toon.

or you could just link the old threads to the noob's questions.

no need to get emotional about a noob's questions. even if these are stupid.

Considering that the OP is the one that asked where to find tin, I find this thread suspiciously lame.

Well, you could try to help them overcome their stupidity by helping them, or reffering them to a better location for information.

Also, never call yourself a noob, anyone.
Calling yourself a newb means your new to the game, but not stupid, usually. Calling youself a noob says that you are a total idiot, that does not deserve help in any way.

indeed

the urban dictonary says:

comes in two variations, noob and newb.

Noob is meant as an offensive term towards someone who is not nessicarily new, and quite often is directed at someone that is |somewhat| experienced but at the same time stupid/disruptive and/or totally incapable of learning.
A noob is almost always someone who thinks they're cool but obviously aren't. Also used in 1337speak.
see also: n00b, nub, ch00b, n00bo, n00blet.

Newb is not meant to be offensive. newb merely states that the person in question is new to the game/board/whatever.

Now thats out of the way, we can conclude that we are speaking about newbs who are lazy or incapable of finding his way through this website, so help those with pointing out that they can find the answers them selfs and dont answer the question. otherwise they keep spamming those "stupid" questions.

Also i think when you see a NEWBS question and you are irritated by it, ignore it and dont call names and that kinda #@$% It supposed to be a fun, interactive game and just pls keep the "fun" in.

There are newbs (good), noobs (bad), and then there are people who want you to do their homework for them, instead of looking for themselves. As to the original question "are people really dumb??", the answer is no. Either they are smart (having you do their investigation), Lazy (can't be bothered to look up info), or really have no idea on how to use the search features offered here. I only rate people down if they persist in their questioning after being instructed in how to use the search feature.

The questions are always the same:
"Where do I find herbs?"
"Where do I find mines?"
"Where do I find heavy leather?"
"Where are trainers?"
"Where do I find recipies?"
"Where should I fish?"

In general, if the question involves "where" or "who", then the proper answer should be "use the search feature", rather than doing the work for them. The answers are here, and I see no need to do anything for them beyond telling them how to search for the information.

Ok it amazes me the amount of lazy stupid people that play this game. I played FFXI for a while, that is a game where you need help, there is not NPC support for anything. WoW hands you everything on a silver platter if you spend the extra 2 mins to look for it. Sure there are the few legit questions that I and everyone else have had, but those aren't the ones that the creater of this post was talking about. Ban lazy noobs.

One thing that irritates me when im ingame and am the one asking the question is when people respond to search in thottbot or alla, I would if I could, but my comp carps out on me if I try to minimize WoW to open a web browser. To those people who respond thusly to people ingame, please consider that it can take forever to perform a search when your box is as sluggish a beast as mine. If you know the answer please respond with the answer, if you don't know say, I don't know but I think it can be found easily in thottbot or alla. For those of you who will acctually search thottbot and alla for me ingame, I thank you because you have gone beyond the call of duty.
