Hiyo, I'm the LS owner or "Boss Lady" of DVAS on this server, and usually the one who makes the events and stuff for us to try and do.

The title of this topic is usualy the question that is asked often in the ls lately since we have quieted down from last month.

I don't know if it's only in my LS but I try to have something exciting happening at least once a week or so, and it has been going pretty good for those who show up.

Over the last year, I've had the LS though, I have noticed I'm the only one who does these things for the ls. Sometimes it's kinda frustrating that no one has any ideas or even wants to use the /lsmes.

I know everyone has something they want to acomplish in the game, or some crazy death defying adventure of some sort cooking in their brains, yet no one really brings it foward.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm asking, :P but would anyone have any ideas to stimulate some motivation among members of a ls to take the reigns of planning? And how are events planned out in your Linkshell?

Maybe it's too much to ask, but I wish someone would give me a day off lol.

So would anyone have any suggestions to take some of the slack off my shoulders? X_X;

The only thing I would love more than anything right now in this game would be to log in and find a /lsmes not by me for an event *hint hint* >_>

I know exactly what you mean.

Except with me, it's not lack of ideas it's lack of motivation from my members -.-

Example: Last week, exactly one week ago, I put up a message for Eco-War Windurst. I say time, date, when, where everything that has always been needed in the past. KIt sits there all week - everyone seeing it. I log on the night of it to find I'm one of 2 people actually ready.

Now I can see several explanations, but none justify why my *entire*(well, aside from Amirith - she was gonna help out) LS weren't on or ready, or at least offered an excuse.

/sigh

Times like these I really wish alot of people had never left...

/remembers the good ole days with Auraic, Azrielgrey, DLegacey(Destiney), Bolverk, Yumyumfood, Drawind, Tzellwe, Fishstickz, Amirith, Epiphanie, Alekiel, Drkyugi, Windbear, and many many others...

So few remain even talking in there...; ;
I miss that..
*goes back to planning events that no one will ever come to*

but at any rate >_>:

-Garrisons
-Eco-warrior
-Promyvions
-ENM
-BCNM
-NM camping
-Exploring!
-The Selbina Tablet Quest
-AF Quests
-Rank Missions
-Group Farming
-Demi-static parties(like leveling 10-15 in a weekend, etc)
-Birthday Partys
-Expeditionary Force
-Event partys
-Low level job leveling - all in one area
-Advanced Job Quests
-Ninja scroll quest(slaughtering your way through zones to complete Ninja scroll quests)
-Skill-Up partys
-Coffer/Key partys
-Dynamis(if possible)
-HNM(if possible)
-Group Fishing/Pirate killing(just some fun for the boat ride...)
-Quest City Days(groups, doing quests in one city for fame)
-Group Pictures(various locations)
-Dungeon Crawling(you know what I mean...?)
-Group "Discussion"

Enough ideas for you? Thats all I could remember off the top of my head plus most of those are multi-tiered, allowing for more then one night/day of fun). Enjoy~

I'm Pretty Good about Setting /lsmes for my Local LS, the only Prob, is no one seems to be on much anymore.

I Don't have SH in my New LS Templars, but they Seem Pretty good about on the Fly Events, and I'm doing my Best to get some of them on FFxi.funtimebliss.com to Plan some Events better, and try to catch everyone up :p

Good Luck getting people to a Website, lol.

I try to do events with my ls as well, and sometimes it is fustrating getting others to plan something. In fact, Feb.'s event had to get postponed because I just didn't have time with real life things to work out all of the details.

I try to do silly things with mine to help relieve the grind of leveling and stuff. The first event was a linkshell fishing trip on the ferry which was kind of fun, since we got to kill sea horror a few times.

There are one or two people in my LS who go to the trouble to plan things. Not surprisingly, these people are also the ones who play the most and have the most contacts outside of the LS (because sometimes you just don't have enough people).

My linkshell also has a private message forum. While we don't get a lot of traffic on it, most of the people in the LS read the forum from time to time. People who are interested in getting something done, be it a Promyvion, AF quest, NM drop, or whatever, usually post a request, suggest a time, and offer a few details of what to expect. People reply and offer to help, rough details are worked out on the web site, then as it gets closer to the scheduled time, more and more of the prep work and recruiting people happens in-game.

None of this has really been thought our, or planned. We simply said "Hey, we should have a web site!" and a forum was created. Once the forum was there, we constantly started reminding people to read it (the web address is almost always in lsmes), and it just started to work out that way on its own.

One thing we did was start a "Wishlist" thread on our forum, where people could post a list of 5 or so things they needed done in the near future, with no restrictions on what those things were. The only requirement was that they know all the details of what to do and where to go ahead of time. This helped a lot, as a lot of people ended up needing similar things, but didn't realize that there were so many other people who were also interested. It also made it a lot easier on the people who were planning things, as they could just pick something from that thread and say "Today we're doing this..." rather than coming up with the idea, and finding out what exactly is required on their own.

I think you'll find, though, that there aren't a lot of people who really enjoy taking a leadership role. Just look at the number of times you see two or three complete parties seeking, but nobody bothers to step up and start inviting people. That's just for an XP party, which takes very little planning. There's no way that most people would be comfortable to start planning large LS events. Just try to get people to do most of the work, to make your job as "boss lady" easier.

You could also take a very direct approach. Just set the lsmes to something like "Next Event: None. Want to do something fun? Update lsmes with your idea."

That wish lish is actually a really good idea, I should try it sometime.
I kinda see what you mean about people not wanting to take on a leadership role which is kinda disapointing. We do have a website infact, which is in my sig and almost every lsmes like you. Everything is planned way ahead of time too. It just never seems to work out at the time of execution for some reason or another. ~_~
And funny thing is last time I had a blank lsmes up("/lsmes Space for rent") it stayed like that for about 2 or 3 weeks...

But anyways, good suggestions as always Seryn ^^

Oh and Windblade when I thought about it, I have a billion types of events almost to choose from, I just would like someone else to do it for a change, which is what I was going for. If I planned something, they would always wait for me to log on before even getting ready. I know I planned it, but the whole event won't fail if I'm not there...
I've noticed another major hassle in the ls having to do with timezones, since we have members from california to iraq and all in between. I would like to help them with things but most of the time I log out right when they log in.
Oh my, I guess this is more of those rant-type posts...Linkshells are hard work to upkeep... /stagger

Hello. I be Robbeh.

I'm in Blagoce's LS. It's not more that I can't be there, it's that things come up. My family is bad for my gaming. I was going to attend his Eco-War, and when I went to go, a few things happened:

1) Got a pt invite for the dunes (Declined)
2) Grandfather wanted to "Talk" with me. (Wishfully, declined, but got the "Grounded if you don't get your *** down here" Message.)

So, I'm unable to attend. But ask Blagoce, I have ideas for things we need to do every 2 minutes. I tend to want to do things, and when it comes time to do them, I'm never around. I hate that I'm unable to do some things, but I've tried.

Also, for the DVAS Lady/ma'am/sir/captain/elcapitano/yeahyougetit/

If your LS isn't holding events, maybe you yourself should sit there and post an /lsmes and say "Hey guys, come on, I planned this last week, you should know that you can come and join." I'm sure that someone will want to join, I know a few people in your LS (I've wanted to join also), and most of them are fun-loving people. There has to be someone who wants to be playing around with the rest of us, doing things that we love to do.

For instance, I'm trying to hold a garrison to get some Boots (+1INT = Good till AF, or more.) I set up an LS message, then turned it off, cause I knew nobody would be really willing to help. I'm about ready to give up on our server. Nobody wants to do anything.

I tried setting up a BCNM40 pt for my BRD, and alas, it wasn't what everyone wanted to do, so everyone left. "Not Worms? Why not? Easier." - Who cares about it being easy. Whatever happened to challenge being a good thing, something people longed for. If everything is so easy that it's handed to you, how can it be fun?

I'm like the rest of us, I need to make money, and if I can't make money a hard way (Other than farming, I'm strictly away from that) I don't like it. I want a challenge, something that will be interesting to do. Even if I can't do much with my LS, I'm willing to do something with everyone else. I would like to plan a BCNM40, and some Garrisons, maybe get that Quest in Mhaura done. If we get a chance to do all of that, I'd be happy. Cause it's getting to the point that I'm just logging off during a pt, cause I can't stand leveling anymore. I could use a break from it, and if anyone wants to do something, please speak up.

I've got 5 garrison items sitting in my mog house right now. I'm in need of getting rid of them. If you wanna plan one, and use one of my items, let me know. I'd be more than happy to "sponser" the event. ^_^ Plus.. they're really clogging up my MS. I don't currently have a LS that does these sorts of things (really looking to find one... -_-), so they're practically worthless to me right now.

Thanks Robbeh but everything is back to like it used to be, when we first started out. We were becoming too buisness oriented imo so we are just having fun like we used to.

Like today I log in and everyone is in Konschat Highlands killing everything in sight waiting for bloodtear to spawn, (which didn't show up) while hopelessly slaughtering anything and everything in the zone. I beleive they went back to town 50/50 on stacks of skins and stuff :P

We are also doing some spur of the moment bcnm50 in a few minutes, which should be pretty exciting.
Best off all, I didnt plan any of them, so yay! ^^
This is the old ls I remember! *remembers the good times*

Sometimes in larger or higher level LSs, it can be intimidating to leave lsmessages. Especially if you're more the quiet type and arent involved much with your linkshell, it's hard to jump in and start doing things.

Usually when you want to do something you can just say it in /l and will get many bored people at the time. I can post forums all day and get no responses, then /linkshell talk 10 minutes before doing something and get 16 responses instantly...

Thats why i prefer smaller, more personal linkshell not including a massive amount of high level jerks ^.^ (Not saying high levels are jerks, just saying there are quite a few who can't waste their time on fun.)
