Use Meat Mithkabobs and you'll do respectable damage even before lvl 15.

A few tips:

1) Use Sword or Hand-to-Hand. You do more damage with those weapons in low levels than you will with a Dagger, even though your Dagger skill will be higher. If you decide to try Hand-to-Hand, go THF/MNK if you can. If you don't have a support job yet, stick to Swords.

2) Make your own party. Low level thieves have a bit of a rough time with invites, since you do little damage without Sneak Attack. If you know the area, and know how to pull well, you can still be a valuable member of the team. A THF/WAR can even tank a little between 10 and 15. Build your own party, and you'll be guaranteed a spot.

3) If you want to solo, use Meat Mithkabobs and Selbina Milk or 'au Lait' drinks. The Vagabond's Set also helps a lot. Meat Mithkabobs will significantly improve your damage, especially in the lower levels. Selbina Milk is very cheap, and will give you a Regen effect, or the 'au Lait' drinks can be used for a larger Regen effect. Those two foods will help you fight tougher enemies, and the drinks can help reduce downtime as well. The Vagabond's Set is horrible armor for actually fighting in, but each piece gives +1 HP while healing. If you carry all four pieces with you, you can switch gear just before you rest. It seems like a small difference, but it really helps with the downtime as well.

I understand the fustration you are going through and if I wasn't so against power leveling (everytime I've tried, the person ended up dead because I get bored and zone out or walk away from the computer), I'd help you. I too have been trying to get my thf to 15 so I can party with it. I plan on eventually taking all jobs to 37 and thf I found has been the one I don't want to party with pre 15 just because of the whole invite hassle and I don't want to do my own parties.

What I've been doing to raise it is breaking it out with my friends who are leveling jobs around that level or farming areas with it. I make good gil, get a level and kill two birds with one stone.

I soloed my Elvaan Thief/Monk from 0-15 also its really not that hard. Kill some worms in La Theine to get to 12 or 13 easily. But I can't remember what I killed from 13-15, crabs maybe?

/em resents people sayin thfs suck and always wanting PL to 15 for THI

I solod thf till 14 without a subjob. Really its not that tough and as for getting invites just make your own pt. Use a sword or hand to hand like was said and you'll do similar dmg as a war. In fact as thf/war you will make a better tank than a war with no subjob. At low levels a subjob makes a really big diff.

Also if you want to outdamage anyone in your pt go thf/war or even better thf/rng and pretend you are a ranger. Thf has high rating in ranged so grab a nice bow and go to town. I'm willing to wager that except possibly the ranger and blm you will do the most dmg in the pt.

I agree with Ballin.. When I was leveling my THF pre-lvl 15, I used meat mithkabobs and routinely did as much damage as a WAR in the party, not to mention filled the spot of puller. I ended up soloing most of the lvls to 15 simply 'cause I wasn't able to get a party, but THF damage is severely underrated by most people before they get Sneak Attack.

PS - I am an Elvaan and was THF/WAR. I'm sure the extra STR helped my damage some ... but THF damage is still underrated, imho.

Currently I'm leveling SAM (lvl 29 currently) and am a little frustrated that most people feel SAM don't put out much damage when I have been doing, on average, more damage than the WARs in my party. So that's just a random remark, but related in the sense of a job's damage being underrated. (As is DRG and MNK in my experience)

You can try going THF/RNG for a bit. You won't be as good as a true ranger, but you'll be close.

I always see lots of thfs in ptys in Valk... So I dunno why everyone says it's so hard to get an invite? There always seem to be planty around at all times. Possibly our server just has too many thfs. IIRC I did a /sea all (insert melee job name) and pulled up more thfs any other job...

When I was leveling an Elvaan I went out to Valk at 10 and really had no problems getting an invite as Thf/War...

I hit a Hurdle getting my Thf to 15 As well, but I mostly Solo'd, as Pre 15 thf Pt's can be Pretty Shady (No Offense). Before 15, you're not able to Add much Skill (Job Skill) to an Xp Party, since yer Dmg can typically Suck (Used and use Dagger).

As most others Said, Solo w/ some Food, or ask yer LS if they want to Pt. If Valk is Loaded up, and there is another Job Lfp, a Pre-15 Thf Dun get much love, unless yer Posse is there too (My Experience anywho)

I Also Subbed War, as I know a backup Voke slave can be handy.

Well ... if you're deadset on not using food, I'd probably go thf/war .. that might get you a party with pulling and backup tanking.

However, the addition of meat mithkabobs to your ******* will add a lot of damage to thf.

If you want to be a good thief up to level 34(Viper Bite) youll have the best luck going THF/MNK and using hand-to-hand. It also helps to use food, but one should really use food by default, and only for good Valkurm and Qufim parties.

I Prefer to Sub /Mnk since I got out of Valk. The Boost can be quite helpful when you're preppin that SA. As for Food, it's the best 2-3k or whatever you can Spend to Xp. Level a Virgin job to 5, and pawn some Crystals for Food Money.

No one wants to Xp w/ a DD Throat-Poking Model, Eat!
