Dear AH Nubs,

I don't know if everyone knows this, but a lot of people make their living selling things on the AH. Personally because I play a very expensive job, I end up farming a lot of the time. I'm not complaining about that though. I'm here to tell you all about the idiots who ruined my prices.

When I farm for money, I normally farm for one of two things. The first thing would be Beehive Chips. Now they take a damned long time to get stacks of, but they sell extremely fast. On the other hand, I also farm for Gausebit grass. This grass is extremely profitable for me, and always has been. However recently a shocking price drop has made any chance I had of making decent money on it disappear.

http://www.ffxiah.com/item.php?id=534&sid=25&stack=0

Notice the high price of 1,300? That was where is was last Wednesday. I should know, because I sold around 7 single grasses for that much. Then, last thursday, I went to the beach and stopped playing until Two days ago. When I got back, I was surprised to see that the price of 1,300 had dropped all the way to a meager 800. I was ok with that, though quite angry and these people undercutting prices just to sell their grass. It's like they have no regard for people who have to make a living.

The next day, I don't play FFXI either. But this morning I come on to check the AH, and lookie there! People further undercut the price of 800 to 600? What are you thinking? People like this who absolutely ruin profitable ventures are really getting on my nerves. So to you, AH Nubs, I say SHOVE IT!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

I have to agree with you completely. I farm to support my jobs too and I have three characters. I farm Coeurl's and when I started, a stack of meat was selling for an average of 12k each. Now look at the prices:

http://www.ffxiah.com/item.php?id=4377&sid=25&stack=1

It's a decent drop rate, but can still take 2 or more hours just to get one stack.

Item's on AH have 3 real life days to sell before they are returned. No need to undercut prices like this just to get a quick overnight sell. Although many of those undercutting the prices are RMT, many more are not.

Cut it out ya'll! Give us hard working farmers a break! :)

People caused this problem, it isnt the new people who join, when everyone complained about gil prices in the AH.

Also, a big chunk of money is removed, when gil sellers are banned, making prices fall in AH, each month this will happen prices will soon be as if we first started the game, sniper rings 50k heh.

So dont complain anymore, it isnt healthy for the game.

No I want everyone's opinion, but you're trying to change the subject of this topic... I noticed your topic in this forum about people complaining, and it sounds to me like you're accusing this topic of being part of "The problem".

supply and demand , from what i see there are 26 stacks @ AH now sell rate 10 stacks/day , 3-4 ppl farming 3 stacks each/day you will end up with more stacks @ AH , easily build up and return to seller's mog house

thats why ppl undercut price.

its easy thing to farm yeah but from time to time you can change what you farm and move to another thing.

thats the logical reason for what happened , less money in game -> less money anyone would have -> less money to pay for xyz item @ AH.

hint: there are alot of items that can be NPC/trade for quests for more money then what you would get from AH...

No you're wrong, I did not change the topic, people infact complained about the prices being to high, so SE decided to do something, there for removing the problem, making prices drop, which answers your question, but you accusing new players of this is just wrong.

My other topic has nothing to do with this.

Fact of the matter is, as gil is removed prices are dropping...fast, its the flip side of removing currency, pretty much everything has crashed. Of course the oversuppy of anything is going to push prices down further. Couerl whiskers used to great to farm, now its a waste of time.

Nothing to do with "Nubs", just people trying to make gil like yourself.

I think the purpose of this thread is to say "The items will sell no matter what. Don't cheat yourself and others by trying to make yours sell faster."
If you pay attention to the way things sell in this game, you'll see one important fact. The majority of people buying craftable items are people that have gil to burn. The gil taken out of the economy isn't being taken from people that buy your craftable items. It is being taken from gilsellers and gilbuyers. Both of which will probably NOT be buying your items.

Edit:
And don't mistake me for a complainer. I have been around long enough to feel the effects of complaining and it makes me sick. Stupid DRKs and SAMs with their "RNG is too powerful and we can't get parties!" and those "JP win every claim!" people that opened the flood gates for gilsellers to take over camps. . .

Well really you're right biggest. I'm not complaining about prices, because I'm selling the rest of my grass anyway, but I am complaining about people who undercut prices and ruin the rest of our profits.

The reason I posted this in the server forum was obviously because I have no idea if this is going on elsewhere. I'd hope that it was just a problem on our server, but it seems now like it's not.

Anyway, is there any fix for this? Do I call up these people and threaten them with my Gexagun? (Er, I'm out of bullets... nvm.) Anybody have an idea? I'm definitely not farming Gausebit anymore, but I'd at least like to think that the prices will stabilize again some day.

[ Thanks guys & Peace. ]

LOL, I've spent the past 2 1/2 months of straight farming for my 60-75 Drg gear, and I'm still 2 mil away from being done, and I can get 120k-140k on a good day of farming. Basically dude, every job is expensive when you want good gear. So please don't use that as your excuse as why you are complaining about this certian topic.

I've never understood why ppl farm these items, and spend hours doing so. The drop rates suck and there are better ways to make gil, i.e Crystals(which always sell extremely fast), and Beastman Seals for soloable BCNM's (Shooting Fish, Treasures & Tribulations etc)

Just a tidbit for you on a reliable item to sell that does not fluctuate that often in the AH......Antican Pauldrans. So when you get high enough to farm these items, do so. They sell fairly fast in the Jeuno and Sandy AH's, Jeuno's AH fluctuates often but Sandys AH usually stays the same day in and day out, unless the price in Jeuno falls so far below Sandys, which has only happened 1 time that I noticed while farming them.

Apparently you haven't been playing this game that long. Because this is something that happens on a daily basis, regardless of wiether or not there has been a RMT ban or not. Trust me, I've noticed on a wide scale that it happens everyday, it's just the item that is done these ways is changed on a daily basis.

But if you want something to change undercutting, try telling SE that they need to give more spaces on the AH to ppl. IMHO thats the only thing that'll have the slightest impact on ppl undercutting, because sometimes ppl undercut to clear out their inventory as fast as possible. And 7 spaces doesn't do anything to a persons inventory when they have 20 things that need to be put up in the AH, and they need that space for something else. It's either sell as quickly as possible or toss some items, which unless you are at the Jeuno or Whitegate AH's is something you'd rather not do. But if it comes down to selling in the Jeuno AH or tossing something that can't be sold to a NPC that isn't worth that much like the items you farm, I'd rather toss it due to the taxes imposed by the Jeuno~Whitegate AH.

But honestly the price increases are something that **** me off, because if I'm selling something not worth that much like your items, it doesn't bother me to cancel the sell and reprice the item to the price drop(unless I'm selling it in Jeuno, like said before).

My b**ch is about ppl who buy items when they dip, wait a day or so and then resell the items they bought at an inflated price. This is why it's taken me 2 1/2 months to get most of my gear. Nothing is more annoying then having to farm a few more days, because some a$$ jacked the price up 100k on an item that usually sells at 200k, because they are out to make a quick $, with no effort whatsoever. I watched in glee, as an a$$ bought 6 Astral Rings(1 he bought was mine) at low prices and then tried to turn around and sell them at a 50k-60k profit each. And why I was gleeful about what he did, is he only made profit off of 2 of those Astral Rings, broke even on 1 and lost profit off of 2 other ones, 1 I assume he kept for himself. That made me feel better about some of these a$$#oles that do these things. >.> Nothing is better then seeing someone get what they deserve.

But wait til you have to sell expensive items in Jeuno~Whitegate with the taxes and have ppl undercut you time and time again, then come back here and b**ch about it. Because then I'd understand why you are so angry about it, I can't understand why you're so angry over something as inexpensive as the items you listed, especially if you sell them in the starting nations AH's, because honestly you aren't losing that much gil anyways.......

You have no idea how many of us are out there constantly farming, and are forced to undercut others due to wild AH prices in order to sell items. So please don't b**ch about that, because I can gaurantee I farm more then you do(because that's all I've been doing for 2 1/2 months solid) in order to afford the items I want for my character. And besides you know you do a little undercutting yourself, and don't try and say you don't. Because I undercut by 20-50 gil for every item up to 2k, and 100-500 gil for every item from 3k up to 10k, and so on and so on. So I can't say that I don't undercut, because I do. My items won't sell if I don't with all the others that undercut cheap items, and will be returned back to my MH. Just be smart about it, and undercut only a small amount and your items will sell fairly quickly with no noticable undercutting going on. But don't try and say you don't undercut yourself dude, because you'd be lieing.

But like I said Ant Pauldrans......when you can farm them they are very stable in the AH.

The only people you can blame for undercutting is your fellow players. Everybody undercuts in this game, whether you like to admit it or not, and it's never going to end. Anything that can be farmed by multiple people in multiple areas WILL get undercut because they want their's to sell fast. The only way around this is to control the item yourself to avoid anyone else undercutting. Even putting an item up for 10 gil less causes undercutting to grow exponentially. You post something for 990 gil to get the 1st sale on that 1000 gil item, someone sees it for 990 and sells for 980, etc. It's a huge pain in the ***, but there's no way around it.

Sounds like Nyanhime (I'm not saying you are Nyanhime, just saying this is what that mithra does). They are now invisible on FFXIAH.com, but they buy everything from the AH that can be npc'd for more and sell it to the npc. You will see them at the AH in lower jeuno constantly. If something sells for 16 gil to npc and costs 15 gil, you can be sure it will be bought, and as long as the price never goes above the npc price, don't expect to get it.

example:
http://www.ffxiah.com/item.php?id=17256&sid=25

Serpentine Gun

It sells for like 10,300, my friend spent forever trying to get one because Nyanhime kept buying them all. 300 gil profit...wooh. I guess it all adds up over time, though.

that was'nt my point ( but thats an idea anyway... ) i was thinking of:

farm spacific item -> check AH price/npc price/quest reword -> sell @ that place.

for example any merit pt @ lolmire ends up with 3-8 stacks of dark crystals
AH price was 1k , cost 400ish to put them there, in the same time you can npc them for 80/each ( 960/stack ) small profit but better then what you would get from AH -> less supply @ AH -> prices goes up -> you can AH them for more profit.
thats small example, watch AH items and check supply and demand then farm.

i actually think that the market in this game is a fascinating thing. effectively we have a completely free market with full information.

lowering the price in these situations isn't a symptom of noobishness, its a symptom of deflation caused by the removal of gil and the over abudence of certain items at the auction house. its the result of the market, which is a net positive.

farming one item exclusively, or crafting one item exclusively, and placing many of those items for sale on the AH will drive the price down. we have ffxiah, which tells us how many are sold a day, if the amount is too much over that amount, the price will drop because individuals want to sell their labor (in the form of farmed items).

frankly, i think this is a spectacular thing!

oh, and the removal of gil does affect the market place, even if it is just removed by gilsellers. unfortunately, people buy gil, that's the truth of it. and all of that gil is intended to make its way into the hands of players, by removing it, SE keeps that money from arriving there.

finally, i just wanted to make a correction, its not anyone's prices. prices are not property. prices are information. prices tell everyone how much of something is demanded, how much is being provided, and how much effort it takes to get that item.

i think that the market is interesting, and when i make my decisions on whether to farm or not, or what items to place for sale, i check the number available. I don't want to sell jack-o-lantern's when they go for 1.3k, so i wait til i can ask for a better price to sell the ones i have in reserve!

well, i want to thank everyone on the bismarck boards for the discussions and community that we have here, i got lucky years ago and landed on a great server!

I can understand how you're upset FreeLance, I use everything I have for me to get gil. I solo as SMN and PUP so I get stacks of crystals and beaks from pup. Then I got to AH to sell and see the price undercut, makes me twitch.

Like about yesterday I saw there were 0 on the AH, so I took the fun joy of putting up a stack going back to what it use to be at which was 25k..well for a while it was 30k and then people kept undercutting it to the point where it was going into the 20k range. It sold then some guy came in put on about 4 stacks, could of had the chance to make the 25k but decided to shove them on there for 24 and now it's lowering back to 23k and I think it's b/c some people just want their gil faster rather than waiting a bit longer and getting a larger profit.

Really gets to me but nothing one can really do. Or like when I go on my scroll runs I do ENM and Uninvited got a Habu Skin worth 30k, sold..in chunks.. nothing that big but 30k none the less. So I put it on AH and for some reason I guess people got iffy of waiting for their gil and now cut it down to 15k.

That's ok..I found some of them in PvP..and me and fenrir were happy to say "Thanks Buddy."

Oh well thanks for the vent.

find something else to farm if your prices are dropping..

i think its awesome everything is so freakin cheap.. i come back from a 2 year break, and everything is basically free!!

900 gil for a stack of Fire Crystals!!! freakin awesome, i used to jack the price up to 10k for a stack!! lol

You people need to take an economics class. Prices rise and fall naturally in any economy (even in fantasy ones).

If people are undercutting to such an extreme it means that the supply is higher then the demand. Now you ask "Is there a solution to this problem?" Why yes! Yes there is!

Go farm something else and stop ******** about it.
