Does this mean that the pet suspension AA is now obsolete?

I have had many times other than logging off that I pocket the pet...

No, but it does make hailing the shroud npcs pointless for many.

Holding a pet and having one up is useful. Not having that 2nd pet poof and need to be recasted, buffed, etc. saves time. This is especially true if you have a nicely buffed pet and travel far but have to log. Now you login ready.
