Summary

Hakkuru-Rinkuru's switching of Ajido-Marujido's broken wand has been discovered. It seems that the original wand had some special significance to the minister. Hurry and retrieve the original wand from the furnace in Garlaige Citadel before it's too late!

Walkthrough

This quest cannot be completed if you are currently doing Windurst Mission 8-1.

After completing the quest Making Amends, you'll need to zone before you can receive this quest.

Talk to Kuroido-Moido to start the quest. He will tell you that the Minister's wand has been sent to be incinerated in Garlaige Citadel and that you must retrieve the broken wand from the furnace room immediately.

To get to the Incinerator, you will need a Garlaige Key. The key is dropped by a Fallen Evacuee in Garlaige Citadel. They are found in the small rooms on the first map.

After you get a key, head to the First Banishing Gate at (I-9). Head through the Second Banishing Gate at (G-10). After you get past the 2nd Banishing Gate, go to (I-7) on the map to reach the Incinerator Room. Talk to Mashira to get the key item: Broken Wand.

Go back and talk to Kuroido-Moido and Hakkuru-Rinkuru.

A Shortcut

There looks to be an easier way to do this one if you've got the WotG expansion, at least once you've got the Garlaige Key:

- Use one of the Cavernous Maws (Rolanberry or Batallia) to get to the past
- Cut through Garlaige Citadel [S] to get to the Cavernous Maw at Sauromugue Champaign [S]
- Use the Maw to get to present day.

Then, you're right at the hard-to-reach entrance to present-day Garlaige and can get to I-9 without having to worry about the Banishing Gates. (This is also apparently a good way to get that imprint of the stone monument for "An Explorer's Footsteps".)

I finally went to the incinerator in Garlaige to complete this quest and another one from Jeuno : I went back to the Orastery, but wasn't able to finish the quest. The tarutarus only talked to me about the Minister being jailed.

Since this was what happened during the missions 6-1 and 6-2 and since i had not the mission 7-1 activated, i traded some crystals to the gate guards, accepted the mission 7-1 "The Sixth Ministry" and then went back to the Orastery : and I was able to finish the quest ^^

I think there are at least two scenarii to finish this quest, since the fact that the Minister was in jail is mentionned during the final CS. There must be a different ending if you complete it before doing the activating the 6-1 mission. Or maybe you can complete it only after being on the 7-1 mission :p

It's true. I recently had to finish Mission 6-2 to complete the quest as Ajido-Marujido's students were concerned about his safety at the time after 6-1. (Good quest to complete while completing the on in jueno as well.)

Had this quest flagged and was only able to do half of windy 6-1. So this quest will prevent you from finishing 6-1 and apparently 6-2 also.

I'm having the same problem as Funnel, in that Kuroido-Moido only says something about the Orastery having no minister. I'll also note that the last place I can recall seeing the minister was in Full Moon Fountain at the end of M6-1. I helped a LS member go there for 6-1 shortly after attempting complete the quest with Kuroido-Moido, but nothing at all happened.

Does anyone know what's needed to complete this quest under these circumstances?

UPDATE: I went back to the Orastery after logging out to do RL stuff for a while, and this time I got the cut-scene to end the quest. I hadn't left Windy since the last attempt, nor had I completed any other quests or missions...so to be frank, I have no idea wtf was going on the first time I tried. Sorry I can't be of more help^^;

To get the ending to this quest, zone out to Windurst Walls, talk to Dr. Shantotto, then go back and talk to Kuroido-Muroido again. You will get the completion of the quest.

Verified, I was on 6-2 after having completed 6-1 and this allowed me to finish this quest..

I suspect however the ending is slightly different than if he was not in jail.

where to go?
# Jan 03 2005 at 3:46 AM Rating: Decent
I did this quest as a level 55 drg with a lvl 60 drk a 54 pld and a 58 mnk, i got passed the 1st gate no problem, everything was easy prey or too weak. But once we got to the 2nd gate we had problems. Two of us got in and the other 2 got trapped outside the banishing gate #2. that doesn't help much but after getting past the 2nd gate everything became DP and i got killed. Can someone please put step by step idiot proof instructions on how to get to the furnace please, or put up a map with a line showing where to go?

When you do this quest, be sure to do Rubbish Day at the same time so you only need to get into the incinerator once.

it should also be noted if your on windy mission 8-1 you can not turn in the broken wand key item.

Hakkuru-Rinkuru says something about the mission story line instead

The mobs in Garlaige start at level 40; the Fallen Evacuees you need to fight for this quest are 42-43.

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/bestiary.html?fmob=195
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/bestiary.html?fmob=196

You can solo this quest as a BST at level 40 or 41: from the entrance, go straight past the first intersection. To the left and right are rooms with two Wingrats (bats, 40-42) each. These rooms connect to other rooms with two Fallen Evacuees each. Watch out for the Oil Spill (slime, 43-45, sound aggro) in the western Fallen room.

There are another two Fallen Evacuees in a room on the east side of the first map, also connected to a room with two Wingrats.

While waiting for the Fallen to respawn, you can also fight Borer Beetles (41-44, sight aggro; try not to pull ones near the stairs that a party might want), Puroboros (bomb, 43-45, sight/magic aggro), and Clockwork Pods (pot, 44-45, magic aggro). Fighting Siege Bats (bat, 40-43) is too much trouble IMO, as your Wingrats will link with them.

Note that Wingrats and Siege Bats are not aggro; everything else on the map is, though the pots are only aggro magic.

After receiving the wand from Garlaige, I went back to Kuroido-Moido, but he isn't saying or giving anything... Just that there's no leader for the mage academy and that Dr. Shantotto should be on the front line. Does this have anything to do with having finished rank 7? (In which something happens to the minister)

B4 anyone else posts any CRAP for this quest you simply get the key and past banishing gate #2 to the end of the tunnel. Impossible to do with less than 4 ppl as you need 4 ppl to open gate 1 and 4 ppl to open gate 2. Even at that all ppl must be able to keep invisi and sneak on them. Even at that if you get aggroed you have a chance of dying at lvl 55. The aggros are not nice and quite in fact annoyed the hell of me today while doing Paladin AF. Found the door didn't have the key. Probably gonna do this quest tomorrow. I wil tell prize then.
Recommnded: 4 ppl with common sense that each have sneak and invisibility.

the matter of WHAT THE FOOK THE REWARD IS? has been overlooked by everyone so far..

so please, can someone note what the reward is to make this a half decent guide?
RE: it seems
# Mar 13 2004 at 10:46 AM Rating: Default
what does it matter what the reward is anyway? It's a quest.. a quest in a game that is designed for questing and having fun. You should be doing this quest just because you want to, not because of what you can get for yourself. Thats self centered and wrong way to think.

Instead of using caps to demand to know what the reward is, he could just do the quest for himself and post what the reward is to make this a "half decent guide". Someone has to do it to post it.. that person could be him. As for calling it a "half decent guide", perhaps instead of making negative comments like that, he could do the quest and write a better guide and submit it. ^^

What does it matter? the guy is just asking what do you get for the quest. Did he say "I'm not doing it if it's less than 10k!" Why must you insist he is self centered after making a simple question. Some people would like to prioritize quests based on the reward. Perhaps one quest should be done before another because an item can be helpful, or an amount of money may allow him/her to purchase something that would make the next quest easier or possible! double /slap from me!

Crematory's key drops from Fallen Evacuee. Simply named "Garlaige Key" not to be confused with the chest key. It's RARE and EX.

The Crematory is past 2 Banishing Gates. You need 4 people to stand on the pedals beside the Banishing Gate to open them so unless a party is moving through the Gates, you can't do this solo with sneak/invis.

Banishing Gate #1 is in I-9 of Floor 1. Rest should be not too difficult from there.

The Ghoul that you need to fight is easy prey at level 50. Just to give you an idea.
