105 SMolo Mage, Silver

First attempt seemed to go well at first but when I started to nuke then the dots and silences began. Health on me, pet and merc was bobbing all over the place then I went down in a snotty heap.

I don't fully understand Rondor's spiel above but I got the gist, licked my wounds and went in again self buffed. This time I just let pet do the fighting and I threw in swarm pets whenever able. Simples... All three of us attracted very little damage and Ivrikdal went down slowly but surely. Very little mana used by me or merc.

Two roamers to take care of on level. At the point when Ivrikdal spawned for me I was able to fight in situ without getting any adds.

Curing or not-curing

This NPC seems to cast one of two spells randomly on different party members for those who have aggro on it, at regular intervals. Each person will get hit by only one DoT (damage-over-time), but it is not always the same one for each person for each round of being DoTted:

Passing Shadow
Hidden Light

Issue #1: If you cure the first DoT, the person who had the dot is Silenced for a short while and is Nuked for a (relatively small) amount. (They are hit with Dark Feedback.)

Issue #2: If you DO NOT cure the second DoT, a large single-target nuke hits the person who had the DoT. (They are hit with Dark Explosion.)

Strategies:
  • Strategy 1: One strategy is to ONLY CURE HIDDEN LIGHT (so that the huge nuke does not go off), and let Passing Shadow run its course without curing it.
  • Strategy 1: Another strategy is to CURE EVERYTHING, *if* you are willing to live with the silence on some people, but this can be dangerous depending on group makeup.
They appear in the short-duration buff window (songs window) and last around 24-30 seconds. Each has 10 disease counters for curing purposes. Passing Shadow has an icon similar to necromancer/shadowknight snare (dark shadow) while Hidden Light has an icon similar to a bright shiny square (if you use the current standard icon set in your EQ client).

While the DoTs are active, the person is hit 6154 points per 6-second tick (mitigated to 65% with most armor that is "current" during this expansion, to 4001 hitpoints per tick).

If you do not cure Hidden Light, the nuke that goes off is NOT mitigated by 35% spell shielding on your armor. (Or it may be mitigated, but then it is "improved" right back up to a bit more than its base amount.)

The DoTs seemed to only land on players and not pets. I am not sure if they landed on mercenaries. So if you are fighting using healer mercenaries, you may opt to block all disease cure spells on ALL characters in the group, and then unblock the cure spells ONLY on players who have "Hidden Light" land on them, long enough for the cure, then re-block them. Or use a player's lower-level disease curing spell to cure the 10 counters, while the "big" cures are all blocked. You can create hotkeys to block and unblock the cure spells.

I made the following hotkeys based on mercenary cure-blocking methods described by player comments written under "Welcome to my Nightmare" and under "Peacekeeper of Fal`Kaa"

CuresDisable hotkey:
/block add me 96 1525 2880 18365 25072
/block add me 25226
/block add me 28088 28272

CuresEnable hotkey:
/block remove me 96 1525 2880 18365 25072
/block remove me 25226
/block remove me 28088 28272

If you read this in the future when the level cap is raised above level 95, you may need to adjust the cure spell numbers in the list above.

The list above includes cures for curses and poison as well, which are strictly NOT all needed for this particular fight on Ivrikdal the Infuser, but it's convenient to have them in your hotkey for various fights.

The NPC spawned on the fourth floor of the Pillar of Black (south-east) from a roaming placeholder "a shadow purifier". There is a mostly empty room with a staircase leading up that is a convenient place to fight, with a single other roamer that enters that room.

Cast Passing Shadow and Silence fairly easy to kill nothing to off the wall. Passing Shadow is a DoT in the song window does moderate damage we did not get the silence till the end. Dropped Ivrikdal's aura of corruption and Grandiose Footwraps. Spawn in the dark tower 4th floor
