jagged sword of the dragon slayer and red dragon scales both still drop from him.

Light blue con to Level 60 SK. I got him down to ~65% I think. Biggest problem of course is that 1500 dmg lifetap proc. I think he proc'd lifetap 2 or 3 times in a row, and my Cleric merc didn't land a heal in time which is why I went down. Maybe if I'd been lucky with his procs I could have killed him. He has a lot of hitpoints, but the lifetap he procs to heal himself makes it seem like he has more hp than he really does. If you don't have a higher level character to just burn him down with, try and bring a slower and some dps.

I dropped into the Hole through Paineel and the Echo was indifferent to my whole little box group. Ran past him, set up camp with the stone ward's on the other side of the rock and spent an hour or two killing with no problems.

And then Nortlav jumped in on one of my fights. I'm not positive I wasn't trained, but I didn't see anyone run through. Nortlav set in on the enchanter who was parked furthest from the rock (everyone else was fighting just inside it) and I turned the whole group onto him. I was making no progress and merc health was dropping fast, so I /q the whole group.

Does he normally path once in awhile or show up on that side of the rock? This is the first I've seen him that far from the pool.

So this is my third return to EQ but 8 years have past since my last adventure. I have been soloing the entire time and decided to work on my Epic 1.0 with my 60 Warrior, 40 AA's and trusty Cleric merc. First the leap of faith was scary but I survived. Landed in the pool right in front of Nortlav.

The fight itself was epic. It is rare to conjure the same emotions from EQ that were a constant companion ten years ago. I love the new abilities and gear but soloing hasn't been really difficult. That changed last nite. After conning blue I moved in with my recently purchased Elaborate Defiant Claymore. Nothing I did moved Nortlav past 98% damage. The fight painfully lasted what seemd like an eternity as I held out hope he would run out of mana. Not a chance. With his 30th life tap and my no mana merc I lay in a fetal position next to his ghostly figure. But.......

It was a blast. frustrating, confusing and I now loathe this ghost. I can't wait until I am bigger stronger smarter.

PS. The free play lured me back in. I have since purchased the Silver Memebership and wonder if it would have made a difference upgrading to Gold?
One thing to note

Be aware that Echo appears to have pretty high resists for his level. My DoTs didn't land much at all during the fight.

Just killed nortlav. Lvl 72 pet had sigil. Only spells i could land were splurt and life tap. Pet tanked and i tapped. Nortlav never summoned me. Took all of a minute to kill him. his taps on me never landed. I tried my clicky gnollish leather boots Insidious malady i think and scent of twilight rk 2 but none landed. Probably coulda done this at 70 had i tried.

JUMPING IN TO THE HOLE
# Feb 08 2008 at 2:56 AM Rating: Decent
Friday - Feb 08, 2008;
I CAN CONFIRM - in one post here, if a cleric casts Divine Aura IMMEDIATELY
after you zone in when falling, the buff will land before you do and you will
live. I just tried it myself. I noticed (with another toon) the damage from
falling is 200,000 (not 20,000). I am guessing SOE did that since some high
levels have over 23,000 Hp's now.(look at leaderboards).
I haven't tried the /q concept yet, but it just might work, if it hasn't been
nerfed yet.
If your planning on bringing an already well buffed group down, get a mag to
jump, get rezzed by cleric and Call of Hero the rest down. That is my plan.

solo'ed 75 sk..

first try almost wiped, 12.3k hp 2200 ac buffed... was resisting his taps til he got to 50% then he started nailing everyone of em..went from 25% to 60% in no time and I went OOM tapin for 1200...plus he resisted all spells except for the bond line and blood line, which is a nice stack, about 650 dmg every 6 seconds on top 1.5 epic.

2nd try went back with infusion popped...easy kill then, didnt drop below 90% hp or below 40% mana...

I'm not uber geared but I do have some TSS.

Drop a lot of your augs and get AC ones.
At level 65, I used to farm him for scales solo.
I only had 2800 ac, and his hits were pitiful.
Bond works good, but also Touch of Innoruuk has a huge mr check, so lands often for full damage.

I hope down and get a scale off him once in a while. A couple times, my pet pushes him too far and he summons me back to him.

Easy with resist
# Sep 15 2005 at 1:52 PM Rating: Decent
This mob is very easy if you have high magic resist. Killed him with a 65 SK, 65 Necro, and 62 bard. Had only velious gear, no plane flags on any of the characters. Bard played 2 diffrent magic resist songs with drum out to amplify the resist. The SK resisted about 90% of the lifetaps, and the ones that hit were only partial damge, so get some good magic resist and take him out

Trick for falling down the rabbit HOLE
# Jun 27 2005 at 11:41 PM Rating: Decent
I will confirm that if you go off ledge closest to Paineel tunnel you will be fine. Took 2 toons down. Lvl 20 agnostic dwarf rouge down twice took 741 dmg 1st, 632 second (no gear on). Second was lvl 1 brells dwarf mage. Died twice took 20000 dmg by goin off ledge closest to waterfall and second trip was 732 dmg. (no gear)
The only 2 mobs at the bottom were the Echo of Nortlav (indifferent to both char)and the Guardian of the Seal (still indifferent to both).

Just a follow up to last POST. Wanted to take a grp down to take on the Echo but my theory on the walk off spot is bunk. Half the group died at the bottom and half lived. (go figure) Took my cleric down with Divine Barrior, rezzed, 53 shammy conned Echo and he was DB to him for some reason. Our grp consisted of 65 druid, 62 cleric, 64 SK, 56 mnk, 56 war and 55 bst. Once we were all buffed and ready we engaged him and the HT's started landing. 7 within a min @ 1500 a pop. (ummm 6400 hp - 10500 = holy crap SK dead). Needless to say we could not keep him alive with that kind of damage and he proceeded to pound the crap out of rest of us. The moral of the story is don't jump off unless your prepared to do rezzin and better have fire power if your takin the Echo out. (with decent gear that is)=)
