Services (EQ2)

This guide is no longer applicable as of the full Free-to-Play launch in December 2011. It is being retained for historical purposes.
Please see Membership Matrix instead.

EverQuest II offers two different types of services: EverQuest II Live and EverQuest II Extended.

EverQuest II Live, commonly referred to as either "EQ2", "EQ2 Live" or "EQ2 Legacy", is a normal paid subscription model service. Players can choose from a standard $15/month subscription plan, or one of the 3, 6 or 12 month plans instead.

EverQuest II Extended, or "EQ2X", is a free-to-play service with optional subscription plans. The EQ2X Extended matrix works as such: Bronze level is completely free-to-play (but with many restrictions), Silver level is a one-time $10 fee to unlock a few extra features than Bronze, Gold level is a $15/month subscription plan that unlocks most of the game features and Platinum level is a yearly plan that unlocks all of the game's features.

Active SOE All Access accounts have full access to EQ2 Live and Gold level access to EQ2X. [1]

We've made a list of the differences between the services and the various featured offered by the game. The information is valid as of 6/28/2011.

  1. ^ SOE All Access is a $19.99/month plan that gives access to many SOE games. For EQ2, it gives full access to EQ2 Live and Gold level access to EQ2 Extended.
  2. ^ EverQuest II Live Subscription Models
  3. ^ EverQuest II Extended Subscription Models
  4. ^ The most recent expansion can be purchased to unlock any missing expansions.
  5. ^ Additional character slots can be purchased in the Marketplace for any type of account level on both services. Character slots are limited to per region, not per server. Slots purchased in EQ2 Live do not unlock extra slots on EQ2X and vice versa.
  6. ^ Regions on EQ2 Live servers are U.S., EU and Test, giving a total of 21 default slots if characters are made in all three regions.
  7. ^ Legendary and Fabled pieces purchased in the Marketplace should be equippable by Bronze and Silver players. At this time players have stated that Legendary and Fabled mounts that do not need attuned can be used from their inventory.
  8. ^ The equipment upgrade unlockers are restricted to allowance of adding an UNLOCKED attribute to a single piece of armor, per unlocker, that is normally not able to be equipped at that player's account level. If the armor was tradeable before the unlocker was used it remains tradeable afterward.
  9. ^ The spell upgrade unlockers are restricted to allowance of one ability to be upgraded that is normally restricted by account level per unlocker.
  10. ^ The Alternate Advancement slider controls how much of your adventuring experience goes toward alternate advancement experience. It first becomes available at level 10.
  11. ^ The inventory slot unlockers are restricted to one additional inventory slot per unlocker, per character (NOT account).
  12. ^ Players on PvP servers must use a black market broker to see items up for sale in cities that are opposite of their alignment.
  13. ^ Players on PvP servers cannot send mail to players of opposing alignment to their own.
  14. ^ Players on PvP servers cannot communicate with players of opposing alignment to their own. PvP players also cannot chat on non-PvP custom chat channels.
  15. ^ On EQ2X servers a guild charter must be purchased with Station Cash to create a guild. On EQ2 Live servers a guild is made by forming a group of 6 players and speaking to an NPC.
  16. ^ When a player downgrades to from Platinum or Gold to Bronze/Silver, they will retain any ability upgrades but will be forced to unequip any Legendary or Fabled equipment.
  17. ^ SOE All Access gives access to many SOE games for only $19.99 per month, with multi-month plans available. Some games require purchase of software before you can play them.
  18. ^ Though veteran rewards from EQ2 Live are not able to be claimed on EQ2X, characters who transfer from Live to Extended are able to keep some rewards that were claimed before copying.
