The Legends of Norrath Playmat is where all games are conducted. It is divided into left and right zones for each player and subsequently, those zones are divided into areas that indicate different aspects of gameplay.
- Each player has designated areas for their Deck, Discard Pile, Hand, Quests, Items and Avatar with the large center area acting as a battle field of sorts where the two players display their cards.
Important areas to pay special attention to are:
This area provides vital information about the state of your deck as you are playing.
- The top section represents your Hand and the number of cards you hold.
- The second section indicates your Deck, from which you will draw cards as the game progresses. Should you run out of cards in your deck and be unable to draw when you are required to, you lose the game.
- The final section is the Discard Pile. This is where cards that are removed from play are placed. Some moves will allow you to remove cards from the discard pile.
Your Hand
Located at the bottom of the playmat is your current Hand.
Your hand appears on your playmat as indicated in the green box. As you can see, only the names of the cards are shown on the playmat, however, at any time you can:
- hover your mouse over the card title to reveal its tooltip.
- right click for a magnified image of the entire card.
The Avatar is the card your deck is built around and comes into play before the game starts. Your Avatar appears at the bottom of the playmat while your opponent's Avatar appears at the top.
- Ability cards appear to the right of your Avatar on the playmat while Item cards appear to the left.
- The two vertical bars to the left of the Avatar's picture represent its Power (blue) and Health (red). The Health bar is divided in such a way that each segment represents 1 point of health.
The chat log, located in the lower right corner of the playmat, records all relevant game information and allows players to speak to one another.
- All game-related message will be marked with an asterisk, as shown in the image above.
- Cards referenced in the chat log will show up as a link which can be clicked to view the full version of the card.
- Messages to other player or observers can be sent via the text box.
- Filters are available to display only game messages, only chat from players or to show both.
Your quest meter displays the progress of you and your opponent's quests as the game progresses.
- Upon completion of a quest, another bubble will fill to indicate said completion.
- When either you or your opponent has completed four quests, that player wins the game.
- Information pertinent to combat will display either above or below the quest meter.
