The Savage Entanglers are a triggered spawn. Kill everything in the area to get them to spawn. Don't have to wait 3 hours just to get 2.

Here's a picture of that book. I'd say it's much smaller than a gnome's foot. I couldn't find it for a few minutes until I realized it was this tiny little spec on the floor.
