I just want to explain the reason behind one of my statements: That ranger's aren't good for soloing.
I started a ranger initially because I thought they'd be good for soloing. I was disappointed to find that unless you twink, it's very very hard to get a weapon better than 6/26 until around 25. |

You seem to be missing the point Lashara. While you're right about the fact that soloing is dangerous, tell me a situation when soloing ever ISN'T more dangerous than grouping?!? So as far as I'm concerned you have to throw the danger factor right out the window. You can't say a class CANNOT SOLO be |

Well, since I just gave a speech on why soloing is good for a Ranger, I will give my thoughts on where to go at 24. As far as I'm concerned, you're already behind schedule. Go to Everfrost ASAP and hunt Wooly Mammoths until 35, no lie. You say you want the best loot, well there it is. 7-10pp per mam |

What you need to do is go call them bastards up and harass them everyday to come over to fix it. I'm assuming since you're at a college you have no control over the firewall, but there should be a group of admins and techs at college you could talk to. I dunno who obviously, but if you ask around yo |

Grouping just as dangerous as soloing? Um.... you must have some REALLY bad groups. I mean, if you get in trouble, Wizard or Druid evacs. You have the tank taunting and SOMEONE is doing crowd control. And, you usually don,t move much so you don't have to worry too much about wandering NPC's. Someone |

Apparently you didn't read my post well enough. Nowhere in it did I state that grouping was just as dangerous as soloing. I simply stated that soloing is not as hard as the previous poster was claiming. I also stated it wasn't all that much more DIFFICULT, not dangerous. The main reason for the post |

I would have to agree with our friend about Everfrost. The tusks sell for about 9 pp in Surefall and once you get SoW at level 30 you can just run back and forth selling and killing. Use the Snare/Fear/Whack techinique. Be careful you will get hit, but you can either heal or use Bind Wound on yourse |

Sorry, just read it wrong ). And YES, I have soloed my Ranger. From like levels 20-50...
But, if I was to make another Ranger, I would NEVER solo. You miss alot of the game by soloing those levels, and you CAN get groups then. Sure, Rangers CAN solo well, but why would you want to? Sure, you get al |

May I give you a suggestion?
When soloing (or fighting of any sort, for that mater), CHANGE THE VIEW ANGLE. Look from above, or the side...never kite in first-person view.
Your point about grouping was right on, though. It is faster, and more profitable to group. |

If your a ranger and you want to solo using snare/fear animal combo go for it. All you got to do is use yer head. Especially in Everfrost. I did so, got phat loot. Or you could team up with an SK, and then you can use snare, and the SK's fear...and not have to limit yerself to animals.

I'm just curious to see what other rangers have to say about what I have discovered recently. I notice that our Call of Sky spell takes a fair bit to go off when it procs as do most spells. Me personally..I always use Call of Sky. I just like to let you guys know how much a ranger sucks a being a class...
1) Sure a ranger cant tank, but this is pathetic. A rogue can tank much better then a ranger could. If you go look at all the skill caps listed below, the rogue surpasses the ranger in every one except i believe dodge, |

Well one thing that wizard have is aoe (now ill proabally get flamed for this but)
But with this line of spell we can outdamage anything.
The best aoe straetgy that I have seen is before hand talk to the enchanter and yes you need an enchanter for this have him cast his rarely used aoe stun.

Hmmmm, so it seems like we agree then. However, I use my Ranger to solo. The reason being is because no matter what you say about how easy grouping is, SOLOING is not that much harder. Another reason I solo my Ranger is because I've been in millions (exaggeration) of groups with my Rogue. So that ha |

Well, there is an Everquest Strategy Guide you could buy. Look for it online, you will find it somewhere. Or you could go on over to eq.castersrealm.com (type it exactly like that, NO www in front)and take a look at the Ranger section. It has strategies on how to play a Ranger and other nice stuff. |
