I'm confused as to how this would be useful in melee combat as it has no benefits to melees stats but it does have mana regen... To a beastlord/sk/ranger possibly... but why in melee combat??? why not in spell casting???

If ya want fire save in the range slot, there is a 15 fire save (with a few other little stats) book that drops on the 4th floor of ToFS. Much easier to get. Though if memory serves it's only usable by several melee classes. Eh just a thought :)

From my experience, any gnoll INSIDE Blackburrow can drop the pelt you need. They are unstackable and have the dark brown icon. Seems like these days you'll get FAR more of the flawless/perfect stackable hides and patches of fur. So it may take a little while to get em both, but I did in 30 mins or |

Until now, I have not seen this drop other than off of Shak Dratha shadeweavers. Since the hunter spawns in the same location, it seems reasonable to have him drop it as well. Both spawn in the tunnel complex between the end of the north road, and the entrance to Paludal.

For future reference, I'd suggest picking up a Bamboo Bo Stick to work on 2HB. It's 8/20, and is a pretty common drop in Dalnir. I've seen them given away in EC, or sell for 10-30pp. I'm pretty sure they're BST useable as well, but I'm not sure that the pic here has been updated yet.
