Why NOT update and let other countries play this game, read, write, chat, adventure together in their native language?

i suppose i can see your point. my only fear is that it'll seperate us players. i guess i'm worrying too much. however, i do agree that its a good idea to make the game more user-friendly, especially if the player in question doesnt speak nor write english that well(or japanese for that matter)

Some may flame me, or rate me down for this, but when i saw that SE would make new in-game language versions for FFXI, i was saddened. As if it wasnt enough with a japanese and english version of the game, which clearly has been creating an invisible barrier between english-speaking players and japanese players, i fear that more language barriers will appear when the new versions are released. surely, more players will join the game(and SE'll be making more money), but they will only communicate(or prefer to communicate) with players who speak their specific langauge. in a MMORPG like FFXI, we're all in the same boat. we share the same problems our server may have, we share the economy balance and we share the space with each other. in my honest opinion, i hope that SE will cancel their plans, so that we wont experience a lot of small societies, when it should have been a big one. i may be naive by thinking that we will be like one big happy family, but SE aint going the right way by dividing us up in even smaller groups of players. bad move, SE :/

Why NOT update and let other countries play this game, read, write, chat, adventure together in their native language? If this game was released in JP and EU only, would you be so up in arms about SE coming out with a new version that allowed YOU to comunicate in English? I didnt think so. Oh, and about those language barriers.... why dont you try to maybe pick up a foreign language/english dictionary or something. Besides.... Please use simple words... Auto Translate ftw. BTW. I'm not flaming or even gonna rate u down... just a pointer or two.

ot that I want it but where is spanish ?
It's 4th in the world after English, Chinese & Indian.

This download isn't about languages worldwide.
POL has a German and a French page, we get News in German and French, but not Spanish. The game comes with a German or French manual (depending which version you get).

Spanish may be the fourth most spoken language in the world, but the download concerns Europe only (you need the European version of the game to get access to French and German), there the numbers are different. Spain has roughly 40 million inhabitants, France 60 million, Germany 80 million (the number of speakers are a bit higher and in favour of French and German).
Spain was never a primary target market for FFXI and Spanish isn't an very important language in Europe. English and French are important with German coming in as a close third (the French place a great import on their language being present in all going ons in the EU, while the Germans will contend themselves with English, despite being the largest native language group in Europe.)
