This puppetmaster job sounds so stupid >< god why cans SE ever do anything right? They started off good with Bluemage, then it was ok with Corsair but Puppetmaster? There are many other jobs they could have choosen like Geomancer

I kinda agree with you ... however, give it a chance first, it might actually end up being very beneficial. Sure, you might not like playing the actual job, but you might end up liking to party with somebody who is one.

As well, I doubt this is the last job they release. Geo can still come, as can so many other possible jobs.
wheres my moogle rod o.o

hah Me (Amby) giantyoshi and jeskadawn all flew into santa monica from NORTH CAROLINA lol i think we payed over 2100 dollars for everything all together (flight, tickets, food, hotel) I now hate Santa Monica and Los Angeles.... But I really enjoyed the festival =) Everything to eat was like twice as expensive as it is in north carolina and I was across the country from my husband :(
Not put together well ... I'd never go again.

The "Playable Expansion" wasn't very playable and you couldn't choose any of the new jobs, only the regular ones and it was on a limited map that was like a maze and they placed everybody in random places without access to a map so you didn't know where your party members were (and you couldn't choose your job, ugh, I was a Warrior/Thief, wtf?). You ran around and killed either lizards or one of the new races. The map was nothing special, graphic-wise ... it was like Sandy overgrown with vegitation, kinda like Windy. Nothing pretty.

The "Live Quest" crap was stuff like "recycle 1-6 pieces of garbage" and "talk to random people."

There was another room where you could play and fight special BCNMs against enemies such as Prince Trion, Star Sybil, the Grand Duchey of Jeuno, and whomever the Bastok dude is, but they'd only let you in if you had a six-person team to sign up (can you say ballista teams that failed in the championship?), and even then they forced you to wait OUTSIDE the building for your turn, and the wait was over an hour. BTW, outside was very cold (and I'm from the mountains where it snows, so yes I know what cold is), threatening to rain, and 20-mph winds (no sun) ... and they forced people to wait outside? wtf?

The main events with the Dev panel, costume contest, expansion playing, and raffle (I didn't win anything) was cold, too, as this all took place on the Santa Monica Pier in a tent-like structure where every 10 feet of wall was flapping open and wind blowing inside (there were two main entrances to the tent which were always wide open with 10-foot gaps).

The seating for all of this inside was horrible as well. They sold out and did not let any more people in than they had registered prior to the event (refusing at the door), yet less than half the attendees could sit down.

Grade for convention atmosphere? F
Grade for game content? D+
Grade for activities? D-
Grade for fun? F

OVERALL GRADE? F-

They could have done so much more, but in the end it was just a tent with some computers and power-point presentation about the Puppetmaster.

Although, I will say the Mithras looked good ... especially the blondie JP. Rawr. However, you know your convention sucks when a 19 year-old girl, dressed as a dragoon (and doesn't work for SE in the slightest form) is the most interesting thing to look at.

If you went there and actually met up with people you knew, then I can understand how you might have had a good time. But staying up all night talking about FFXI, and going out to eat lunch with them and talking about FFXI is all stuff that happens outside of the convention. And talking about FFXI with them inside the tent could be done just as well as chatting online int he game. Sure, conventions are great for meeting people and seeing people you know, but that's just an extra benefit. This was a horrible convention for actual content.

I'm extremely upset that I wasted $80 to go to this. Make that $160, since I paid for my girl to go as well. Orz.

Oh, and when they announced that everybody's Moogle Rods would be sent to their delivery boxes immediately following the end of the convention ... yeah, right. It's been 48 hours and still nothing.

**** Poor.

Well the festival was fun overall. Despite the fact THAT I ALMOST BECAME ICECUBE, but well worth the wait. Got a atlas yippee.

The only thing that deserves a F- was the translator for the developement who seemed engrossed in cheering the crowd rather than paying attention in translating. Have no clue why he was there, was he hired as a translater or was he there to be like a punk cheerleader.

Though towards the end, though some inaccurate but later changed answer during laughs, or not even making it clear, I say not bad for a "messenger" but I wouldn't even give him 2 gil if I ever was to look for translator.

Moogle Rod Do you have it? Please delivery box.

We'll I'm sorry you didn't have a good time at the event, maybe instead of poking holes in the events layout or planning, maybe you should make suggestions as how the next event should be run or how things should be handled?
I personally had fun. I shelled out the same amount of money for the ticket, I sat down on the floor for each announcement or video, I wore shorts and froze along with the rest of them. Sure I can go and complain how it wasn't good or it didn't hold up to my expectations, but I won't. I appreciate that they flew in the Developement Team from Japan for only a few days to tell us, the North American players, what they hold for the future of the game we like/love so much. I appreciate the time and effort they put together for us to have fun with other players from other places in the US, UK, and Japan.
I know there were people who loved the event and there were people who hated it, but next time just be alittle more greatful what for SE tried to offer to you. They tried to show you something new, stuff that wasn't shown to any media source and we, the players and fans, got to see it first. If they hold an event again in the area, I'd like to go again and I hope you might enjoy it this time. Sorry again, man.

It doesn't matter if I make suggestions to make the next one better ... this isn't an SE forum for that topic. Obviously, my complaints stand for themselves, or at least I'd hope so.

1) No tent. If tent, close flaps. Simple.

2) Enough chairs for your registered visitors that paid to be there.

3) If you advertise that you get to play the new expansion, then actually let them play the expansion, not a mini-map especially designed for the convention that only shows one new mob type and you can't even play a job you know.

4) If you're going to make people stand outside, check the weather. If it's acclemate weather, let them come the **** inside! Heck, you can at least provide some outside heaters or something.

And no, they didn't "fly here to tell the NORTH AMERICAN players" stuff before anybody else. They flew to an event to tell anybody who would come some sneak peak info before it was released to the media later that night.

No, I'm not really greatful for what "SE triiiieeeed to offer" me, not at that price. I don't think it was worth $80 per person.

And where the hell is my Moogle Rod??!? Nearly 72 hours now and nothing.

Anyhow, I was just expressing my opinion. I'm glad you had a good time, but don't tell me that I should be greatful for such a poorly planned event.

Take care.

I think you're all right about this event.

but we paid $80 to get in, but somehow, the show wasn't that fun.

I been to the one with free admintion, and I gain more than this "pay" event

You know apparently you werent paying atention... They said NOTHING about the moogle rod being available RIGHT afte the convention... infact i was told it might be up to 2 weeks. How can you be so damn negative? did you just stay with your girl the whole time or try to meet other players?? I dont get a change to geek out with other players in real life so this was fun for me. And what do you expect? they told you time playing ANY part of the expansion was going to be limited so HOW the hell do you think you would have seen the entire expansion any way? Sounds like maybe you need to quit the game if you are so unhappy with the way SE does everything.

Bah.

They said, on the website, playTIME would be limited to ensure each person at the event could have playTIME. Not that the expansion itself would be limited.

And yes, they announced, right before the costume contest, that the moogle rod would be delivered after the Fan Festival concluded that night. Then, imediately after, when asked what it did, he said we'd have to log on and find out for ourselves. He clearly announced it, and over the loudspeakers, to many cheers.

Again, I'm glad you had a good time ... I'm glad you didn't mind paying $80 bucks so you could meet people. I did not. I'm not wrong ... it's an opinion. You liked it, I didn't. Simple as that, get off my case.

OK, Not only was the Festival a blast i got to help out as a voluter. So getting a behind the sceens look at what was going on was AWSOME to say the least. there were pretty much 1000 people there and some who flew in even though they didnt have tickets just to try and get in! Have you ever just wanted to geek out with your LS in person, and meet the others in your Server? Well thats really waht we got to do. We would go out to lunch and do what?? talk about FFXI of course! it really was Eat Sleep and Breath FFXI and it was GREAT! the Pictures and Vids on IGN cant even come close to what it was like to really be there. the excitement of the crowd when puppetmaster was revieled OMG! and when we got to see BLM and Corsair in Action WOW. I was HIGHLY visible durring this whole thing so i got to meet alot of people that i normaly wouldnt have gotten to talk to and EVERYONE who went was Friendly, nice and fun to be around. If you get a chance to go to the next FFXI festival i HIGHLY recomend it, worth saving up for now for the next one ^^
I got to go

I actually had a jury summons for Valentine's Day. Fortunately I called them up and said I gave birth only 5 weeks before and they pushed me back three months.
