Did ya'll think then possibly, they might fix what they DESTROYED with the last patch?

Maybe help RNG a little bit...I dunno, just being optimistic I guess =/

"Help" ranger? If anything ranger needed a little nerfing. Those F-uckers have had the monopoly far to long. Think about it, how accurate can you fire a longbow if a huge ******* orc was charging you with an axe. Ranger is fine the way it is. And the utsusemi change helps NIN lose just enough hate so they can recast it easier without being hit.

Whatever they're doing, it must be pretty big for them to spend that long on it. One person can add ram to an entire rack of servers in about 2 hours, so this must be a pretty big machine upgrade. And they've probably got a huge crew.

I for one am excited to see what difference it makes. Lag has been pretty bad the last few days on Lakshmi, so any improvements they can make are more than welcome. Time to check out that new Harry Potter book. :)

Yah, 18 hours suxxors.

Yah, I wish they'd take a hint from Ulima Online and do server maintenance in batches. (thats about the only decent thing EA still does -_-;)

Yah, I'm gonna have to find something else to do on a Monday night, after I've drudged away the day at work.

BUT

It's not the end of the world. *gasp* maybe I'll go socialize with non-pixelated people on a weekday night. Or, horror of horrors, spend time with my fiance out of game!

18 hours isn't bad at all. Use it as an excuse to go do something else you've been meaning to do, but haven't because; OMFG that NM pops sometime in the next few hours. Or; Holy @%#$! {insert random HAVE TO DO ff thing here)...

So meh. We'll get over it! ^^

I'm not sure how upgrading server machines could be done in "batches."

You are sorely mistaken. SE lists their times in military format, so it's not six hours, it is 18 hours.

Random information: The reason they list their times like that is because Japan has no AM or PM. 11 PM is 23:00 in their time.

Um... are you Japanese? Cause Japan does infact have AM and PM. They are called "gogo" for P.M. and "gozen" for A.M. Check your information before you embarass yourself again.

I'm sorry guys, I know I should just shut up and not post this, because it will likely result in flames & someone attacking my karma, but I feel a need to comment.

I keep seeing people say that they have a right to be compensated for time they can't play. To one of those who say this, I challenge you to show me this statement from a SE document. Otherwise, you're wrong.

Think of other types of software. When something goes wrong with it, does the creator give you a portion of your money back? Or do they create a patch and get things working again?

Personally, I like that SE continues to change the game and add more to it, and I understand that things won't always work perfectly. If some maintenance is the price I have to pay for the game to continue to be upgraded/added to, I'm more than willing to pay it.

I'm rambling, so I'm going to finish up by saying this: if you don't like the game or how it is run/maintenanced, stop playing. Otherwise you're still giving your money to SE and supporting the game.

I didn't say we were -entitled- to a refund. I said, for all the downtime we've had lately, good customer service would warrant a kickback. Read the post as it's written next time, please. Thank you, good day.

Speedly, it sounds like you felt my post was directed at you or about your post. I'm afraid it wasn't. To be honest, I don't believe I even read your post.

I've seen this sentiment a number of times since I started playing and, a number of times when I've seen it, people - perhaps not yourself, but others - HAVE claimed they have a right to be compensated for the lost time. Those were the types of posts that prompted me to write.

My post had nothing to do with you or your post. I apologize if you felt it did.

Acutally, SE is making it so more people can play the game. Alot of ppl have had difficulties playing (one of my good friends included) and I would hope they do a patch to update and fix this. Just because we can play doesnt mean that others can. You have to remember that more goes on behind the scenes than you may think.
Your right, however, we have had alot of downtime. But if all you can do is play the game then maybe putting it down for a change is a good idea.
what the.....

What kinda crap is this? is anyone else being kicked and not able to get back on?
I just got kicked
# Aug 03 2005 at 3:01 PM Rating: Decent
Ok i usualy dont have a problem not being able to play but the amount of downtime latley whith all the times ive been kicked is getting anoying. I just got kicked off and I agree that thoe it may not be much we should be refunded the money for our lost game time. Iy would add up and eventualy make these basterds try a little harder to keep the servers up.
You've got to be kidding me...
# Aug 03 2005 at 2:42 PM Rating: Default
Looks like they are down right now. Neither Playonline or their WEBSITE even is responding. 32 minutes after their call center closes, too. This is ******* ********* we HAVE A RIGHT to have proportional refunds issued, I don't give a **** if it's 27 cents, that's 27 cents those retards won't get of my money, which would make me feel a lot better about the situation.

/emote gets ready for the flood of hate posts that are gonna be pouring in when people realize why they just got disconnected and can't sign back in due to error POL-0021....

******** about it don't make a damn difference, if you don't like it quit the F-ucking game!
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 03 2005 at 2:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think SE while they are doing this rediculous maintenence should run a System Restore back to when RNG was good and then update the servers woot!
RE: In the meantime... FIX RNG!!!
# Aug 03 2005 at 2:46 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a RNG myself and although I agree the nerf sucked, I am sick of people ******** about it. It's old news. Nothing is going to change about it, now. Rate down. :/
RE: In the meantime... FIX RNG!!!

/clap Genjimasa. Yeah I love hearing about the NIN and rng nerf both here on the site and in the game. I am sure the programmers were doing what they could to Balance the games various jobs. So RNG cant shoot a bow from far and near and land good damage everytime, Does this mean that the ranger or Ninja job is no longer Desired in party? Did the change have an impact on other jobs (bst/war/nin/rdm/ect)while using ranged? Yes it will have minor impact in the game TP will take a little longer to get and mobs may be slightly harder to kill, but this is probably to make people think in the game rather than use some cookie cutter party setup for missions or exp. Take the Promy runs for example so many times have I seen Tank/WHM/SMN/RNG/RNG/other that people forget there is other jobs with other abilities which may even have better sucess but are never utilized. Does NIN tank have harder time with hate, perhaps- however I have not had issues and have tried pretty hard to steal hate to test the waters, suggestions for those with hate issues food (dorado sushi is +enmity and say mushroom stew is -enmity) and thought. Another aspect to look at is the PvP Ballista modes, Were the "Nerfs" put in place to re-establish the equilibrium or the player classes?, Ballista can be quite boring when the mages are being stalked by multiple rng/nin spamming sleep bolts at you. If you cant do your job in an acceptable fashion then perhaps A) you could be doing things different or B) the game is messed up and needs to be adjusted. Before you say it's B at least look at option A, I see so much lazyiness and complaining that I welcome those who cant hack it to quit and save me the annoyance of having to here you complaining all the time. Perhaps this will alter the "Ideal" party set ups for BCNM's and other quests, and maybe it might help benefit your other jobs. This game isn't about instant gratification, It's about adventure, teamwork, and FUN. Let the spam start here \/\/
My money down the hole.

I think everyone's point is, not that they have to go do something else. Personally, to me, the thing that bothers me the most is, for all the downtime that we've had lately, have our fees been cut for the time we're paying for and unable to recieve the service? Nope. I would have much less of a problem with this if SE took a proportionate amount off of our fees for the downtime. Now, I know people are going to say, it's only a few cents. But it's not so much the money as it is the principle. It almost (keyword there - "almost") likens to conning people in that they say, "Pay us and we'll give you service X," and then mysteriously, when you try to use it, it's gone.

It's not the inability to play, SE. It's the fact that you don't always do what's right. I urge you to consider these circumstances and take appropriate action.

Like you guys at SE would even take the time to read this anyway. ><;

If it fixes all the "DDOS" they are getting. Aka everyone hitting retry to download an update from 1 server serving the entire world (Bad idea) cool i hope this fixes it. If this is some ******** that changes nothing but server configuration on there end and benifits us in no way what so ever. Then well, I will take my gaming elsewhere. This maintnence is out of control

Hmm.. yeah the server has been up for a few years now. I remember seeing the population of FFXI has past a million players. Let's say each of us paying only $12.95 per month. That is approx $130 mil per year.

All the hardware and software are by SE's standard. Shutting down the servers for hours for update and interrupt the service means putting the maintenance cost on the clients.

I have been a FFXI fan for couple years and sometimes these updates are just too much ^^;

Amazing how people just go off on SE without knowing the entire details as to why they're performing this maitinence. Keep in mind, the servers have been up nearly non-stop for aproximately three years. After such time there will be degridation, leading to lag and corrupted data. This maitinence might just be some precautionary upgrades to prevent that from happening. Then again it might be preparing for the 360 release, but I wouldn't think they'd do that until a little closer to the actual release time.

SE should put a maintenence calendar on their website with the dates X'd off that'll leave about 10 left in the month prorate our bills for the days used.
Also change the website to www.playoffline.com

This update means I'll finally be able to finish Final Fantasy X without any distractions. Yaaaay. :3

If they fix this **** then it's worth it, but in compliance with SE's late trend of ****-ups, I'd say this will cause more problems. But we'll see, cheers.
