Memorial Day: Merge Rescheduled, Support Closure

The EverQuest team will be moving the originally scheduled merge between Tunare and E'ci on 5/30 to 5/31. We always do our best to minimize downtime during peak periods and holidays as we often have a larger number of people in-game. Technical Phone Support and Live chat will be closed Monday May 30, 2005 in observance of the Memorial day holiday. Normal hours for both Tech Support and Live Chat will resume on Tuesday May 31, 2005.

I share the same thing as mentioned by Aerist however the cold hard reality is that SOE does not make any more money by adding things to old worlds or adding to a pre-existing quest. They have one goal in mind and that is to make money and when they made alot of money, they want to make more. SOE has a financial obligation to raise shareholder value. If they dont, they can be jailed. Yes, jailed.

In order to make more money, they have to find new ways to get cash out of our pockets, one is to sell new expansions. We all know how many bugs are in an expansion but again, the cold reality is, the shareholders want the product on the shelves by "X" date, regardless if it is ready for the shelves. If the thing has a thousand bugs, who cares? Thats tech support.

ahh capitalism at its finest. . . Makes me miss verant. I hate that sony is always trying to milk us for every last penny. I believe i have paid more than enough for this game already in 3 years.

First, I must say that I am not a true old schooler because I joined in November of 2000. (right before Luclin) I do, however, share the beliefs of many of the true old schoolers from the days Naggy to the first raids on Kael.

I wish SOE would create a server specifically for those who do not want change. In fact, a server for all those who love the old world. The days where +60 were non-existant; the times where a wizard could make a living porting. Seems like the items now-a-days are too powerful. I understand that the new mobs are stronger too. It's like SOE is developing newland, instead of truely trying to refurbish and renew old lands.

I know I sound rather radical; however, I just wish somethings were the way they were in the past. If you have any ideas to challenge or tack on to this, I would appreciate it.

Here are some hard facts about Memorial Day, not everybody who wants the day off can get it off. Just look at most services, and ask yourself how many of us get it off. Does that make it right? Not on your life, if people can be given time off for real observance and holidays I am all for it.

However, with that said... Everquest is an internation game that serves customers far and wide. German, English, or Australian customers should have support available. They pay money, the same as American customers.

In that light, there should be customer service representatives from those countries for them to get help from. This is not a difficult fix, and should be addressed. How often does our gaming suffer because Germany is celebrating reunification? Yet the occurrence means as much to them as Memorial Day does to us.

Fix it SOE, they pay a portion of your salaries too.

Let me ask you... Was it a day of rememberance for those killed protecting others? Not to sound like any 1 holiday should be better then another. If your kin were one of those soldiers would you want to be able to visit the grave on this day or work?

They should then do the same on Nov. 11.

Forget holidays. I want to know why an "International" game doesnt have 24/7 support to some degree.

Can't observe every other countries holidays or it would be almost every day off. This was good thinking on their part. Number of US players is more than canadian players and workers live in US so US holidays are observed. Very logical, but not considerate of other countries holidays. They don't have to observe Victoria day if they don't want to.

Well you have to take into account that the majority of the CS staff and whatnot is located in cali, which as you all know is in the US. Being a US holiday everything is closed. Things in the US don't close on foreign countries' holidays. Not to sound mean but why would they stop a server merge on a Canadian holiday, i would think it would suit canadian players more because they wouldn't be on becausethey were honoringthe holiday so they wouldn't be inconvenienced by the server downtime. Just my 2cp tho

While not an excuse it is the sad reality. I have lived in 6 different countries. All of them take their own holidays seriously and either have no clue about and/or no interest in other countries holidays except in quaint amusement.

Sure as heck didn't stop them from merging Torv and Fennin on Victoria day in Canada. Glad they noticed.
