I am not the most patient person. When I wanna play ffxi I wanna play NOW. I do appreciate the update cause they keep the game new and exciting. WHM is an exciting role to play in a party but I belive that they needed to update and give the DRG and MNK more abilities. They always have such a hard time finding a party at the higher levels and it makes me feel sad.

I uninstalled CoP and cant find it so im buying it tonight. Im currently in the middle of downloading the update and was wondering if I am gonna have to reinstall the update after i get CoP? If im not able to reinstall since i already did, then what can i do to make sure i get the update with CoP?

fun...fortunately the 3 hour downtime takes place during a lecture I need to go to.

The ridiclously large file to download...precious. It has 2 whole features I might use (which, I must admit, is more than any update lately -- the chat filters if they've finally fixed their "improvements" to them from last year and the guild contract item expansion -- I was getting sick of the monotony).

Oh...but wait...I have CoP and PS2...and DSL so provided all three work as projected I can expect 45 mins of downloads.

Banish III

Shoot all I care about is getting Bansih III cause im tired of getting it cast on me, and its about time banish is going to cause more damage. And last but not least I hope our new ability isnt going to be something stupid....why not Mass Raise, granted we have all be there, us as WHM are smart enough to have reraise or just smart enough to run! and our whole pt is dead..course those are the best moments.

15kb Transfer !?
# Feb 22 2005 at 10:56 PM Rating: Decent
They only allow a 15kb transfer!? ugh with the money they are squeezing out of us you think they would allow the servers to transfer faster and what not. Oh well, I guess I will just occupy myself with this website while it is downloading.

# Feb 23 2005 at 2:02 AM Rating: Decent
They have 33 server each probably has it's own connection. that's already a lot of connections and with i believe 2 million accounts (i believe they announced this a while back) 15k is pretty good for what they have to accommodate.

Well, it's more like 33 Arrays, because it's not one server really that handles a world, it's a cluster of physical servers acting as 1 environment.

And they have to keep it at 15K so users won't hog their bandwidth.

And think about it, 33 worlds, I have been on Bismarck with almost 5500 - 6000 peop5le, so that's almost 175,000+ people. 15K there, and 15K back x 175,000 = 2,625,000K total on way, . Also since it's network, that bits, so we are looking 5,250,000 kilobits of dedicated bandwith, or 5127 Megabits, which is equivalent to roughly 3400 T1's, or 27 OC192's. Let me say, 1 OC192 is possibly up in the 6 digits a month...

But maybe they get a good rate ;-)

But, 175,000 people, times $15.00 a month is $2,625,000. They here is, they have roughly over a million subscribers, so we are looking at $15,000,000 a month. So if you take out 27 OC192's... costing, say, $100,000.00 a month, that is $2,700,000.00. So that leaves $12,000,000 to pay for hosting, (not included in bandwidth) of all those physical machines, paying GM's, programmers, hardware costs for new hardware and or maintenance, not to mention all the support staff of accountants that charge your credit card and what not.

Okay, I just went off on a total tangent...

Sorry about that.
