Actions Taken Due to Member Agreement Violations

On February 14, over 800 accounts which repeatedly violated the PlayOnline Member Agreement were permanently banned from PlayOnline. The users of these accounts would form groups to monopolize the hunting spots of notorious monsters (NM). They also repeatedly performed harassment and MPK actions against other players. Grief tactics, including harassment, are listed in the PlayOnline Member Agreement as violations and are not allowed for any reason. Also, interfering other players' game play in order to monopolize monsters which spawn in hunting spots is not allowed. Based on the above, we have taken strict actions against players who have violated the PlayOnline Member Agreement. If you become a victim of harrasment, please make a GM Call and report the issue directly to a Game Master. Your understanding and cooperation will help us provide the best experience possible to our players. Thank you!

On Diabolos, there are a bunch of miners all named Xable. I think they run 7X24 and monopolize the mining points in Gusgen.

As of this morning they're still on. So much for solving anything. I haven't seen a mining point in Gusgen in months.

SE has no reason to crack down on botters and gilsellers - they're all paying customers, so SE would literally be throwing away their own money to deal with it. They *DO* however have a good reason to bust a few of the worst offenders (who will be back online in about 6 hours) so they can say "Look, we are working on the problem!".

firstly, they cracked down on NM monopolizers, and even fishing bots, but nowhere did they say they took away people who mine alot.

and second, i knew there would be at least one *** who wouldnt appriciate SE at least trying...

1) Running a character 7X24 violates the POL Member Agreement.
2) Selling gil or buying gil violates the POL Member Agreement.

On those two grounds, they should be gone. If you don't believe me, I suggest you read it yourself.

Explain to me how monopolizing mining points is different than camping Stroper Chyme. Legit players are denied an honest change to make money because of these people.

I'm sorry I didn't slobber all over myself with joy that SE made a half-hearted attempt to sort of rectify a problem that's been on-going for several months. I'll say this, though - it's a good start.

In the Playonline Member Agreement, Section 4.2 (d) states:
SquareEnix wrote:

The PlayOnline Service and the ability to access PlayOnline are for the personal use of Users only and may not be copied, resold, leased, transferred, exchanged or bartered.

I should have been more specific. Square has said having a mule on 7X24 is okay, since it is not interacting with the game. Mining around the clock, however, is not. Giving your account info to anyone is against the rules [Sec 4.2 (b)], for many good reasons. I believe this is one of them.

Anyone who thinks that the prices on there servers would fix themselves at all within 24 hours of these people being banned needs to have there head checked because obviously reality eludes them.

First off it takes days and possibly weeks after something like this happens before you would see any effect. I don't even know if we will see much of an effect at all. I hope we do, but 800 people spread out over all the servers really isnt that many. It is one hell of a start, don't get me wrong. I think this was also meant to be a big warning to anyone else who uses these types of tactics. Thus the reason for announcing it. Plus it lets us know that they really care.

Let me just say that this whole thing has warmed my heart. What a kick a$$ Valentione's Day present. Are you feeling the love?.....

I like to adress the first poster here. Why are you running your mouth with pure speculation? I see no truth in believing 80% of the accounts are gil sellers.

The botton line is SE is finally trying to get rid of the jerks who ruin this game. I'm sure half of the posters here on this thread buy gil anyway. Why else would most of you be so "upset" that some gil sellers were caught. "Oh no, IGE will raise gil prices...boo hooo"

Now I have a suggestion to eliminate the gil sellers forever. It is a very risky move but please hear me out.

I'm going to use the Valkrum Emp for my example.
Ok, we all know the VE pin goes for 500-750k easy on most servers. Now imagine if the NM drops were capped. The AH/bazzar/trade would ONLY allow you to sell those drops for a reasonable figure... say 50k for LL boots, 100K for VE hairpin, etc.. By having a realistic price on each drop that would kill off the gil sellers. Who in there right might is going to pay $500-1000 US dollars for 2mil gil? I know alot of ppl think of NM as the lottery. I ask you this... how much are you really winning when the gil sellers control the market?

My second idea which I don't like to even think about is this... make all the NM drops Rare Ex.

On the other hand, BCNM take skill and therefore most gil sellers don't control it yet. It also is nice you need beastseals to play them. lol

Now these are 2 methods for ridding FF of gil sellers forever. Send your support to SE plz.

Study your economics. If you put a price ciling on a rare comodity in high demand no one will want to produce it, so the gil sellers would just find another way to make the cash from NM drops. Imagane checking a gil seller's Bazzar and seeing EPs, Snipper rings, Winged boots, and the list can go on. I agree with Loning, that won't fix the gil seller problem.
I don't think it's the right Idea but it is a start. We have to get rid of these gil mongers.
RE: step in the right direction
# Feb 15 2005 at 10:03 AM Rating: Decent
both of your ideas cant work, here's why.

say, u limit the money u can sell something for on the AH.
lets say, the Emp hairpin, it went for 500k, patch puts it at 50k max that u can sell it for. thats 1/10 of what it used to be. lets say, everything else gets limited to 1/10 of what it used to sell for. now all of a sudden, gil is worth 10x more then b4. you know what the gil sellers are gonna be like? hey, we got 100 mil sitting in our characters, and guess what, its now worth 10x more. This is b/c they can make 1mil which was maybe $100 be worth $1000 b/c of the economy has made the gil worth 10x's more. i can see the $$$$$$ symbols in their greedy gil selling eyes.
its all about knowing how the economy works and this idea wont help, u learn this when u get to college. ^^

secondly, yes, more rare/ex items might seem like a sweet idea. but that idea still has too many flaws. for example, say the EH(emp hairpin) is rare/ex item. well, EH is an awesome headpiece for ALOT of classes at lvl 24. NIN, THF, MNK, RNG, WAR, etc. so, now u have all those ppl who want to play that class camping that NM. think about that, u will have 500ppl camping that NM 24/7 just to get the item from that NM for that class they are lvl'in. in the mean time, look at the scorpion harness. this is made from a recipe, but the recipe takes an item thats worth around 4mil the V. claw. hmm, u make the v.claw rare/ex, u will have to build your boneworking 60+ to make the SH for yourself. if u dont, how in the whole wide world of Vanadiel are u going to get the money to buy the scorpion harness if every item thats worth any gil rare/ex? u dont make things rare/ex, b/c it spreads campers to different mobs, so they can sell that item to buy another. this is how the system is set up to work, its just that gil sellers monopolize some of those areas. and guess what.... isnt that what SE just tried to fix?

You are overlooking one aspect of making things rare/ex. We already know it works very well. AF are an example of rare/ex items and that system works very well. Sure it would be annoying if they were a % drop and it took many kills to do, but it would work very after an initial burst of activity.

Um SE did not say they booted gilsellers per see. They booted players who formed groups that monopolized certain nm's by MPKing off the competition. Now we believe these are gilfarmers, true. They probably were. But notice that the real thing SE caught them on was the MPK'ing. So we can conclude that Gilselling was probably not the target of the ban operation. It's more like chicago in the 20's. The violence of organized crime spilled into the street and goverment was forced to take action. Very similar situation.

Economies are complex operations which can be tricky to understand. Prices may flux from this but not by too much at all. If the gil sellers dont get the NM's anymore, someone else will. And odds are they will sell for the same profit. Instead of a richer man with a credit card buying gil, the lucky man nailing the NM will profit. Its all the same in the end.

I think its is natural for people to cry doom when sudden changes rip through a society or economy. Just like when SE drastically reduced the drops from gobs n what not, Backplates...ect. But the game world went on.

I'm not concerned one bit.

Also, NM's do provid drops that do sell well, remember there are BCNM's too. And that ISNT provided by gil sellers. If anything, the economy will get better.

Prices may go down after time, but as I see it, that's not really the issue.

The issue is the monopoly. Most players will camp a NM for the item, either to wear it or sell it for gil and buy an item they DO want. Most players, once they get what they want, will stop camping the NM and go on with enjoying the gaming experience. They will not monopolize a NM (or if they do, only until they're done with it), and other players will have a fair chance for their own items.

This is not the case with gilsellers - they're not after items, they are after real money. As long as an NM's drop is profitable, they *will*not*leave. Furthermore, the greater the monopoly on the item, the more profitable it becomes for them, and the less likely they are to go away.

This is a little beside my point, but alot of gil buyers complain about prices, but don't seem to realize that they're only making the problem worse. Those shiny Kotes that you bought gil on IGE for are probably being sold to you by the monopolizing gilsellers who are employed by them, and your money is going right back to IGE. Circle of death.

quick question, every one that i know complains about gil sellers because they controll the economy first question, will they sell an item for 700k if no 1 payed it? No. 2nd Omg they sit at stroper chyme 24/7 and they monopitalize (spell?) the economy!!! well lets see i live in ordelle's caves now (i love stroper ;) yet its usually me and the gil sellers and thats it....period. No one (for the most part) is trying to change Jack and in turn has no right to complain about prices. ("similar" to complaining about the president, when you are able to vote but dont)
good bye any rating at all lol, just my opinions about the subject from my expiriences at Stroper Chyme and various other NM's

I'm really excited about this. People have a fair chance at claiming NMs now....

But will prices of the items we need go down? Sniper's Rings, Ouchido's kote, things like that. I'd like to say yes, people will start charging less for these items. But honestly I don't think it will happen. Gilsellers showed us that people would pay outrageous prices for items they wanted, so now people are going to take advantage of that.

Who is going to put up an Archer's ring for 400k when there going for 700? Not many people.

I hope I am proven wrong, that people can get past the greed and get prices to where they were.

Guys let's keep this in perspective they didn't ban gilsellers for selling gil. They banned those that monopolize NM's and harass other players. We're still gonna have gilsellers on every server and very little will change except that exp areas are gonna be a little less populated with all the people thinking "OMG i can finally get Argus". On Valefor my linkshell noticed that FinalDynasty for the most part are all gone. No more Ggoo Jakiller and their minion's of ORdelle's but GOgogogo and Moonstare and their crews seem to be all running around free. In addition I've seen all the Mining Loons so like I said very little is gonna change.

All this means is a flood of idiots are gonna rush in to every single NM camp in hope of getting drop and **** the price slightly. At least for the 3 days it's going to take for them to power level another team to 75 and get ready to come back with a vengeance, meaning they will want to make up for money lost.

The sellers had a controlled economy and made certain items available for purchase. If everyone camped a peacock charm and didn't sell it they would never be in stock, and for those of us with high crafting that can pull money out of our asses without camping with 17 other idiots examining you every second sending you /tells "Are you camping teh kote omglolololol!11!!1!" would be unfair since we do have the money to pay for it.

I'd take the gilsellers any day. Especially with stupid *** Guivre running around like a maniac without control.

first of all you have to look at the ban as this... SE defenitly announced it to be a deterent to others and have us know they are fixing things and want the Legit players dollars... also as far as the economy we have to be willing to fix things and drop the prices. you also have to remember that if you do drop the prices you are not actually loosing money... yeah so my kote goes from 1.5 mil gil to 500k gil... yeah It lost gil value, but I didnt loose anymone because everything went down in price... so when I get my gloves new gloves instead of paying 2 mil gil I pay 1 mil.... it is all relative to the whole economy... so do your part help your server out and fix the prices.... hell think of being able to craft ANYTHING and make some profit off it cause the materials dont cost thousands of gil... your craft skill would actually be worth something and you could actually help people out by crafting stuff for friends at a discount instead of well I will make it at cost but... that is same as buying it cause the materials are so expenisive....

all in all I say GO SE... /her hume cheer.

let us see this as a door to a new age where us legit players can actually play and have fun and not be frustraed over Gil... I have enough money problems in RL I dont need to play a game and have just as much stress as I do about "bills" as I do in RL.... Thanks SE for finally listening!
Lower Prices?
# Feb 15 2005 at 3:29 AM Rating: Decent
Seraph, one of the most expensive servers from what I am told, lost a lot of gilsellers ,Cholse and his lvl 70+ minions, the VE hunters "Kiss", the Xialangs.

Unfortunately the damage has been done. The prices so far have not recovered. When a normal player gets the Emp Hairpin now and tries to sell it, they will either sell it for a pre-inflation price of 300k, or go for the insane post-inflation prices that are in the pricing history. Who would take the hit and willingly lose money just to attempt to drop the price? No one on Seraph.

It's great that the big sellers are gone, but will the damage get corrected?

Heph, Raise III isnt from normal NMs... You can get it from certain Kindred Seal BCNMs or some gods. I dont think the gilsellers are fighting gods and doing many BCNMs yet. Just get another HNMLS, I'm currently seeking HNMLS on Seraph as well, since HK broke recently.
