World of Tanks Interview: Part 2
We talk of world domination, destroying buildings and burning your enemies to ashes!
ZAM: Clan Wars sounds amazing. Can one clan actually take over the world? Why can a clan attack only once per day? How do you defend your clan provinces if you're not online?
The World of Tanks Global map will represent the entire world divided into hundreds and thousands of provinces, so we believe that it is simply impossible for one clan to establish control over all of those territories. We are looking forward to having hundreds of clans fighting for domination on the global map, that's why the situation with one superior clan seems hardly possible.
Each clan has its so-called chips, and their number is equal to the number of high-level players accepted into the clan. By shifting those chips over neighboring territories, the clan puts claims for them.
One clan can claim for a number of territories during a day, but only once per day for one specific territory. Just imagine what would happen if multiple clans attacked endlessly one and the same territory one after another! We've limited the number of attacks at one specific territory to one, as it would be immensely troublesome for a defending side to repel endless assaults from many clans.
All the battles take place according to the prime time of the territory under attack. Thus, if a battle is arranged for the time between 7-11p.m, the defending clan is free to choose the most suitable time for them in this time span to be online and to repel.
ZAM: What is the most destructive thing you've seen a tank do? Can we roll our tanks right through houses or the Cathedral we saw in the screen shots?
Zhivets: In World of Tanks, almost all entities except the landscapes are objects for total destruction. Tanks can knock out trees and hedges and run through houses, walls and cars leaving only flames, splinters and dust behind. High-rise buildings will include destructible elements in their structure but can't be destroyed completely. Otherwise, it would cause unbearable loads on the server and make the game unplayable - we have to put up with some limitations typical for online games.
ZAM: It's great that World of Tanks is free to play, but what kind of microtransactions will we want to make?
Zhivets: The Free-to-Play model is not revolutionary itself anymore and World of Tanks simply follows the common tendency typical for current MMO games. World of Tanks assumes micropayments that can make the players' life a bit easier. By purchasing a premium account players receive a 50% boost to experience and credits they gain after each battle. It makes the progression go a bit faster but doesn't give any advantages in battles. Premium tanks are available for sale as well. These panzers are not top ones and are introduced only to give a player the feeling of a specific tank class and help them decide whether to invest their time into this branch of a tech tree or not.
Some custom bonus content is also available for money. We believe that the possibility of putting a girlfriend's name on your tank's turret is worth spending a few bucks on. : )
World of Tanks is coming, friends. And just like the website says, all of us here at ZAM cannot wait until this fall to "Feel the TANK POWER!"
