Upcoming Engineering Changes Planned in Patch 3.1

Blizzard poster Zarhym has provided a short list of engineering changes coming in patch 3.1 that are, of course, subject to change at any time.

  • "Added a new Reticulated Armor Webbing engineering enchant that increases the armor on plate gloves.
  • Added a new Springy Arachnoweave engineering enchant that grants passive spell power in addition to turning your cloak into a parachute.
  • Flexweave Underlay now grants passive agility in addition to its normal effect.
  • Nitro Boosts now grant passive critical strike rating in addition to their speed boost."

So how do all you engineers feel about these changes? What other updates would you like to see your tradeskill receive in the future?

I lol'd, I really did.

Here's the most technological instance since Gnomer itself and this is all that we get. Let's not even talk about how non-engineers get a helicopter mount now too.

No reagents for scrapbot.
No new goggles.
No clear superiority in our bop bonuses versus standard enchants.(tinkers).
No new reputation patterns.
No new/upgraded gadgets (MC hat, netomatic, world enlarger).
No fix for specialty switching.
No real difference between specialties at 80.
No new teleporter.
No new flares. (easily most important of all)
No disorient on grenades.
No new seaforium.
No engineer assistance on motorcycle.
No use for Indestructible Frame or Neo-Dynamic Gear Assembly.
No new pet/mechanical dragonling.
No connection to siege vehicles (repair or bonus damage).
No point.

How many of those points do you think will go unanswered in the patch or even the whole of the expansion? I'd wager an overwhelming percentage. I've been an engineer for almost four years now. I'm too wrapped up in it, I can't abandon the rare and no longer gainable recipes, to drop it at this point.

Make us competitive, make us useful, just make us no longer a joke. Please.
hmm

Do a majority of engineering items require you to be an engineer yourself or are some of them, like the enchants that can be given to other players and such?
Nice

I'm happy that my nitro boosts will add the crit bonus, still not as good as the 5 second boost they gave not long ago.
