Version Update Notice (04/25/2008)

We are pleased to announce that the next FINAL FANTASY XI version update has been scheduled to take place in early June. The addition of compelling new missions to the Wings of the Goddess storyline will form the heart of this update. Other content includes a new ranking system for Campaign, battle-related tweaks encompassing jobs and merit points, and additions and adjustments to fellows and chocobo raising.

Stay tuned for the latest information on the above additions and changes.

Why is this so hard to understand?, Is it so hard to understand?

Corsair, Bluemage, and Puppetmaster have not recieved AF2 because the storyline and instance that would make it acquirable have not been added, TOAU is not complete. If it helps clear it up lets break this all down.

FFXI Base game influence:Middle lands
ROTZ 1st expansion 6 new jobs
COP 2nd expansion no new jobs
WoTG 4th expansion 2 new jobs
This trio of expansions completes the Original storyline and the Dynamis cycle.

FFXI TOAU Influence: Eastern lands
3rd expansion 3 new jobs
???? 5th expansion ????
???? 6th expansion ????
to further reinforce this let me call attention to the new AF quests for Blu, Cor, and Pup. Specifically Pup 3rd AF quest, the npc mentions the existence of another crafter with the knowledge to create better gear than she can. This person has apparently dropped off the face of vanadiel. Bluemage also mentions a crafter with greater skill. Af2 is coming but SE has yet to finish ToAU, more to the point, East aht urgahn, the Nobles quarter, South Aht urgahn, not to mention the far eastern lands and mithran isles which the empire is at constant war with.
Hints to the next expansion lie in CoP, tenzen invites you to visit him. ToAU Gessho mentions an alliance between the Mamool, and the mysterious Yagudo tribes of the east, which Elmer's pointy history tells us are actually "Tengu". The battle is to take place on Aht urgahns eastern front. ToAU is not complete, just like the original game the Eastern nations will have a full overlapping historical storyline and thier own method of AF2 release.

I'm most looking forward to any fellow changes and upgrades, being able to summon them in any non town area would be great, but a new job for them would just rock hard..but i'll be happy with just a lvl increase ^^

Maybe Se will FINALLY let our fellows be used in WhiteGate area's.

And its about time we got some more "mission's" for WotG.

But the new "Campaign Rank System" got my attention. Wonder what that will do.

Oh, please, please, please, please, PLEASE raise my NPC Fellow's cap from 65! Poor Nanako has been 65 and stuck for an eternity. Not that I'll be able to hold hate if she levels...

There were a few nice changes, overall A.I was boosted on the healer type NPCs which was pretty nice, they dont spam silence on crabs now, they actually haste you pretty often, and they dont wait a lifetime to cure you. They are also pretty quick casting ~na spells now.

They recover HP+MP much faster when /healing, and best of all we are now able to buff them ourselves with a wider range of spells than we could before, e.g refresh, regen, haste etc. And I think some job abilities now work on them too, Dancers waltzes for example.

As for the armour and weapons update that was mentioned last time, I havent noticed anything new yet :(

It's a weapon called a Kama, he's holding it wrong, apparently it will be classified as a Katana, leave it to SE to not be martial arts savvy they are all nerds afterall.

I'm sure they know what a kama is, but may just take some artistic license in the classification to avoid having ninjas complain about having raise kama skill from 0.

I'm kind of hoping they implement some more of the job changes they proposed at fan fest.

Black Mage

Red Mage
Considering magic to allow RDM to move up to front lines.

Thief
New JA "Accomplice" - it will steal a PT enmity and transfer to himself. Used with perfect dodge or to help a mage in trouble.

Paladin
Considering a reflect spell to reflect damage from attacks blocked by shields.

Dark Knight
Design concept was attacker with magic. More dark magic specific spells for use in battle.

Beastmaster
Several new things. 1. Amount of HP with wait will be Greatly increased. 2. New pet command - Snarl - jug pet only order a pet to take all master enmity. A provoke for pets. 3. New pet food to cure all status aliments and lowering recast on reward.

Bard
New songs and abilities. Command to select a single target for a song. Make bard busier by increasing number of casts.

Ranger
New ability - Velocity Shot - ranged attacks will be faster and more powerful and mele will be less powerful.

Samurai
Concept is profession able to build TP. Recent additions made SAM too powerful. There will be some adjustments. Additions may include ability to improve skillchains - such as making them faster or reducing resistance to skillchains.

Ninja
Possible new ninjutsu with sneak effect. Possible new ability which temporarily reduces enmity and then restores it to previous amount.

Dragoon
Increase number of actions wyvern takes in battle.

Summoner
New ability. Restore MP by elemental spirits. Ability may also be tied to days of the week and weather. There will be another announcement on SMN later tonight.

Blue Mage
New monster spells. Updates to come out first update of 2008.

Corsair
New rolls for 2 new jobs. Add effect to quick draw where they can charge it like the scholars. Updates to come out first update of 2008.

Puppetmaster
Considering new attachments and adjustments to existing ones. New automaton weapon skills.


So far the majority of jobs have recived some of what was proposed, however there are still a few that are still waiting and hoping for a buff of some descriprion.
