Demonified... what the hell?

Demonified, I am... simply overwhelmed at your ability NOT TO READ A SINGLE THING I SAID.

SE, at Fan Fest, said NO NECROMANCERS. The PUP is the bloody necro. Stop being an idiot! >_<

PS: Before you go 'slaping' me for saying PUP is Necro, you might as well slap the people who told me: SE themselves. Good luck with that...

In several of the "flash back" scenes there is a rather obvious meteor in the sky. Perhaps this will be one of those "once every 100 years this meteor passes by and grants people the ability to travel to the past" type stories.
I posted this on my own forum but..

if there is time travel which it looks like..
how do you think the travel will occur?

Travel with a chocobo that has eaten time travel greens and have you fly back ala Back To the Future?

An airship being slingshot around the sun at warp 9.99999999999 ala Star Trek IV?

Going naked into a teleporter ala The terminator movies?

How about dialing into the past ala Bill and Ted??

how about.. i'm bored and dead in one of the Toau areas and waiting for a raise..

lol

...

How about we wait till we get more news from SE before we start talking random nonsense?

I bet you 3 things:

1) SE will announce more updates about expansion at a later date.

2) SE will not make 6 new jobs, it would probably off balance the game a great amount.

3) ToAU will probably still be completely unfinished by winter '07.
Wowza!

Holy bajeeberz. My cat woke me up to show me this and I saw a chapstick outside my window. But then I also so this. Very strange, they just came out with the other expansion and already this, weird XD

Could you pass the butter, please?

It's been so long and things might be running together but...

I think Hinoree says something about Davoi's history in a CoP CS, but I can't be certain. Maybe someone can verify or disprove; not sure where if any the Gobbie Footprints are here.

Perhaps someone can help me out on this; when was the passage from the Orc & Gigas homeland officially closed/collapsed? I'm wondering if the stone watch towers are part of it.

One area in the video looks like Gustaberg, but I don't ever remember seeing ruins of the towers like they show in the videos.

While I'm extatic over the new expansion and this whole prequil it seems to be unfolding there are two things that stand out in my mind that I want to see:

1. The original Galka homeland before they were driven out by the Antica
2. Beaudicine before it became a Glacier (wasn't it supposed to be a thickly forested area, similar to Ronfaure or Jugner?)

each expansion also introduced a new audience to the game, the original game= Japan, RoZ=USA, CoP=Europe, ToAU=360 players, WotG=??? wonder where this one will go?

rumor has it that they are working on a Wii platform.. J/K

but it would be nice to see if they will get mac users and linux integrated and working without a lot a problems or emulators.

ok... all i c see here is only speculations, and the "6 new jobs" and "raise of lvl cap"? i won't bite on that one unless you can give me some sources....
but i did a bit of research and found these links:

well, there was one more link i was going to put up, but i don't sem to find it >_< as you might notice, this isn't directy connected to WotG, but it is an indicator of how much work SE is willing to put in FFXI. read the links and tell me what you think of it, and if you find any mantioning of WotG, then please post ^^

Hopefully this expansion brings balance to the game areas. Before ToAU came out jeuno was what Aht Whatever is now, and worse because 1) its easier to attain the higher levels, and 2) jeuno has 4 zones while aht whatever has only 2. ToAU was poor planning on the design department's behalf, but not a failure. They should have made Aht a lot bigger mabye 4-5 zones. Then there is sanction... COME ON if you didnt want a ton of people partying in that area, why the hell did you give them not only a 15% exp bonus, but also refresh, regen, or double meal duration. Then to counter it, they gave signet a bunch of good stuff EXCEPT the exp bonus. Mabye this expansion will make the areas a bit more balanced. I'd like to see more people in the 3 main cities other than the crafters and the new players.

Some of the writing in that passage is my own, I was/am assembling a repository of Vana'Diel's mythos- The index goes something like this at the moment, though I'm not currently willing to share it publicly until it's a lot closer to being finished. I was much further than I am now, but due to some PC problems and someone erasing it from my server I had to take a huge step back and have been unwilling to take the time to fill in what I had already filled in. I'll try to let you know when it is finished or give you what I have currently if you PM me.

I. Introduction
II. Time Line
III. Historical Figures
IV. Key Events
V. Geography
VI. Beastiary
VII. Key Terms
VIII. Clothing, Arms & Armor
IX. Food & Drink
X. Magic, History & Application
XI. Credits

As for sources, all of my sources have been the Tribune (God how I wish it was still going, that was by far the absolute best source for canon and just an enjoyable read every now and then) FFXICyclopedia and Wikipedia and of course the game itself. Going back and re-watching a majority of the game's CSes is a huge step I need t o take in finishing this repository.

If you look into the FFXI history... and the bring up the past jobs...
*********SPOILERS***********
IE "chocobos used in the great war" or "air ships being equipped with guns" "great nins and pirates of the past" "the star sybil being one of the LAST ORACLES(great summoner)"

Maybe it's upgraded jobs time? Chocobo Knight? Engineer? Maybe it's the CoP for Aht Urghan?! xD with no new jobs?

Necromancer,
Assassin,
Ritualist,

Elementalist,
Dervish.

uhhh no.. those are guild wars jobs.. that have never ever been in final fantasy.. assassin for one is like ninja.. the rest are strict guild wars stuff.. and by the way ..

The purpose of this expansion is to end the FFXI story. It draws together all of the storylines, and brings them all to one big finale.

where are you getting your information.. cause i dont see anything like that posted anywhere.. is it possible that this draws all the stories together.. yes
however ToA has nothing to do with the story lines.. so is the the last story out there that FF11 will institute .. probally not.. they want to keep the game goin.. and they want to make people interested in missions and quests.. so they will for all money purposes.. keep the updates and expansions goin.. IMO...

Yeah, I think we can agree on that. As far as FF Tactics/Advance goes, what with their Time Mage and all...that's pretty much what a RDM does. Haste, Slow, Gravity, Bind, etc.. SE would have a really hard time differentiating Time Mage from Red Mage.

That being said...I'd like to learn Stop.

oh dear, I'm not sounding too smart now am I... I live in Australia, therefore I joined with the EU release that coincided with CoP and because of the heavy CoP content in the trailer I naturally assumed it came out then, my (understandable) bad : (

That trailer didn't come out with CoP. It came out from day one. It was the release trailer. We just had very little idea what the hell that area was until CoP came out. Though I know some Sandy storylines tied into it a bit.

The Kingdom of San d’Oria secretly attempted to construct a passageway from their stronghold Garlaige Citadel into Sauromugue Champaign in hopes of helping the tarutaru of Windurst. Five hundred of the Kingdom's best men were sent to protect the workers. Yet, the Orcs discovered the movement of the San d’Orian knights to the citadel and informed the Yagudo. The two beastmen attacked the stronghold at the point where the workers and knights were deep inside the tunnels. Every last knight was slaughtered, and the beastmen razed the building. The tragedy would go on to be known as the Battle of Garliage Citadel. "

Oh? Interesting, what i recall reading indicated something completely different, i am willing to cede this point (and yeah ok, it makes sense to have fortifications in south west ron/north la theine) but can i ask for a link to your source please? i'm always seeking official back-history for the ffxi story so any help, much appreciated : )

Garliage Citadel did fall during the great war. It was actually one of the earliest battles in the war and took place in mid 862.

"With the help of the other beastmen the Yagudo finished building Castle Oztroja. From this location the Yagudo were able to cutoff the magic wielding Tarutaru from the rest of the world. Also, it would make perfect sense for San d'Oria to still have fortifications in the south. Remember after all that the Orcs did have an established army south of the Kingdom, one of the first battles was the Orcs vs. San d'Oria in Jugner Forest.

mabye the "missions" for this new expansion (WotG 1,2,3 ect) will take place in the past. like the first 1 or 2 missions give you access to it, and the rest take place there. similar to the promy's giving access to the rest of the CoP missions, or whichever ToaU mission gives you access to assault.

OK, let's ignore the silly silly debates about inconsequential matters... let us look at the facts.

From what I can tell the areas shown are:
La Theine Plateau: Sauromuge Champaign (extensions of fortifications of Garlaige Citadel), Rolanberry Fields Sarutabaruta, Davoi (or whatever the settlement was called before the orcs came) and parts of the opening cs from CoP detailing the fall of Tavnazia... Let us extrapolate from this.

La Theine Plateau: The beasties would have been silly to attack from here, the were fortified in the northlands (beau -> rang' pass -> east ron) and there is now a settlement in ghelsba... This would indicate something to do with the sandy <--> bastok wars (sweet, I finally get to slap down those hum biatches ^^) after all, the 2 main staging points for said war was la theine & konschtat highlands...

Sauromuge Champaign: Again, if you know your vana'dealie history you know garbage ********* fell to the taru might well before the great wars... Interesting.

Davoi: Saddly I don't know enough to say whether this fell to the orcs before or during the great war (I haven't leveled pld or rdm where i suspect this story unfolds, assistance appreciated but no spoilers please).

Sarutabaruta: Fairly safe to say this could have occured during the great war or in windurst's hay day...

Tavnazia: The footage shown is most certainly from the great war. It has been ripped directly from the opening trailer introduced with CoP detailing the end of the war. This means either a) it is just another piece of the earlier expansions used to pad out the trailer or b) it is of great importance to WoG (power to the wogs!)...

post analysis: The new expansion covers several of the key battles in the history of vana'dealie. Wings of the Goddess infers that Altana herself takes a hand in the story. Perhaps Altana sends you to the past to influence key events in history? New jobs? Doubtfull. unless they died out during the great war (last big event in history), after all dragoon almost died out but was resurrected with the release of RoZ, what are the chances two class types went this way (up to you to judge, really...) Perhaps they were ancient classes from the time of the inter-race wars? wtf knows lol. Time mage??? as a vehicle for the storyline? go away, think about it for a bit and come back later mmkay?

Honestly I know no more than you do, I'm just applying logical reasoning and too many years playing knowledge to what little they've shown us so far. Think about it all and reply, tell me what your knowledge tells you : )
