We would like to wish everyone great fortune and prosperity for the year ahead! Presently, a family of mythical birds is visiting Vana'diel. According to folklore, these avians will reward those who make them an offering. If you wish to learn your fortune for this year, try trading the birds an item and see what happens! This feathered family will be in Vana'diel from December 31, 7:00 (PST) to January 9, 19:00 (PST).

found these birds in E. Ronfaure The bird of wonder , The bird of Peace and the birdlings. I had a lvl 69 rngs help.. just needed to use widescan to find it after followin /follow on the birds for about 15 mins they seems to do a complete circle of the map. when i came to the bird of wonder i traded it 12 earth crystals got the New years gift. dont know what to trade the Peace bird.. if anyone finds out plz tell.

It was strange I must tell you,the bird blew up and there was bird droppings everywhere and I could not walk anywhere. The droppings will make you run and walk the opposite direction that you press or trying to go. So, be carefull. :)

In Ronfaure, there is a Bird of Peace, Bird of Wonder, and birdlings. I tossed /RNG for Wide Scan and tracked them down. Couldn't get anything after trading various foods I had on me (Pineapple Juice, Ginger Cookies, Pumpkin Pies, even a Silent Oil), but when I traded the Bird of Peace a Melon Pie, I got a New Years gift that, when used, gave me a fishing imagery bonus (oh...boy...). I suspect that food/area/trader combos give different things. Not sure. I think I tried to give a Melon pie to him again and I did not recieve anything (And he didn't take it).

Don't have to wait till midnight on the New Year's gift, by the way. :)

Yep 2005 is the year of the Rooster,

I found the pack of birds and gave the bird of wonder twelve earth crystals and got a envelope that says happy new years... its rare/exc and i have not used it yet... waiting til midnight

I was hunting sheeps in Valkurm this morning and I saw a couple of birdlings, so i followed them around a bit till i noticed they were following a bigger bird called "Bird of Peace." I tried trading lots of items to it, but it wouldn't talk to me. When I traded a sheepskin to a "Bird of Wonder" though, it told me:

"Kwah! Kwah!
(Ah, it's the Year of the Rooster.)
Kwa~h... Kwahk kwak kwak.
(Your year will be as joyful as the last.)"

And I thought that was it, but as soon as I continue my sheep hunting, I notice that I have enthunder cast on me, though it wore off pretty fast. I heard there's birds in Qufim too.

There are birds in almost every zone.
They come out at 4 and 18 O'clock Vanadiel time.
