Master Merc's

Anyone seen the Master Merc's?
New Class...?
# Aug 26 2008 at 11:11 AM Rating: Default
Since the last new class and race's have been introduced I have been really itching to see more.
There can always be new zones, quest's, task's, gear, features etc. with each expansion but the real big new thing is races, classes and graphix. Come on SOE lets get creative!
Oh and please, no more GREAT AND INNOVATIVE NEW FEATURES like breakapart items and so forth..if the GREAT AND INNOVATIVE NEW FEATURE isnt found in at least every NEW zone, let alone the old zones, then it isnt such a big deal to me.
I will always purchase the latest expansion because I want to keep up on the opportunity's to expand my EQ experience and this is my indoor hobby of choice. And I always look forward to whatever clever new idea's I find in the latest expansion's. Whether I'm able to take advantage of them at the moment or not.

I hear your pain oh ye of multi accounts and others, here is my 2cp on that part.
If you or your children were involved in any kind of competitive/cooperative outdoor/indoor sport/activity/hobby you would need equipment.
Furthermore the equipment would need repairs over the years, repairs or replacement or upgrades.
Also in addition to the equipment, for some events, you would be required to pay a participatory fee.
What I'm trying to say is that EQ is something you decided to get involved in for entertainment, self gratification, whatever and funds are required.
Should you feel that the cost of participating is prohibative to your budget then choose another form of affordable entertainment.

The choice is entirely your's to make and NO other.

Now that the expansion's are coming annually rather than bi or tri annually your cost has been depreciated. I would have thought you would be rejoicing in the reduction of cost to you rather than bemoaning your ongoing financial plight.

Coming to this forum to publicly expose your financial limitation's to whomever will listen serves no purpose. And quite frankly you should be embarassed.

My Grandfather used to tell me, Life's a ***** son and that ***** cost's money.

EQ is not a '*****' but it does cost money.

I've been playing everquest since April,1999 and I am looking forward to seeing the new content inplay... yes I have to agree with many of the comments from earlier posts, it is sad to see alot of zones just sitting with very minimal activity and in some cases no activity..except for those of us who occasionally will wander back through the older zones to reminice. I for one think it's great to be able to go back to a time early on in Everquest.. be it through a portal to a time when you had to really be a player.. the content was challenging and leveling was alot harder than it is today... you didn't have a guild hall or lobby to meet in and save your buffs or to summon your corpse from anywhere ingame... if you died you had better remember which zone oyu were in and where you were or have a necro friend summon your corpse to the zone line.. I remember many times as a young druid stealthing through zones to recover higher level players corpses for them.. a druid back then was an awesome character to play.. they were your transportation players and your quickest way to a zone in most events... was sad when PoP came out and destroyed alot of the druid's zoning specialties by making some places to accessible for under level characters and at that point alot of grouping began to stop. In the begining it was critical to create well balanced groups with tank, healer, transportation, and buffers, it took nearly every class working together to make solid progression in the game and there were no 7 day top level characters.. you earned each level and boxing toons was not even heard of back then.. it was hard enough just working your toon, learning your class abd your role in a group. I also paid 29.995 for each expandsion.. but really it's like any game that's been out there awhile and has had a few expansions.. yeah 40 dollars is alot of money to some.. but if oyu love the game it's a small price.. considering and Xbox game will run you 50 dollars or more and what are you getting for it? Well do are not getting the interaction as you do with a MMRPG. Yuo are not playing along side other people from all over the world.. from different walks of life.. your not exploring on a social level as you can in Everquest.
I am looking forward to the new expansion and yes I am also very happy that SoE has decided to release 1 expansion a year instead of 2 or in some years 3 .
Why some people leave eq and why others come back :):):)

I am just going to give my opinion on why allot of people have left EQ and why some have came back. I believe some people left EQ for the following 5 reasons sure there are ton of other reasons but to me these are just the top 5 reasons why they left.

1. People kill stealing and looting others mobs. I believe and have experienced people are sick and tired of getting a mob and along someone came and either kill steals it or trains them. I know there are some people on the server I use to play on that would 6 box and camp WOS daily and be more than happy to train or KS and had over 100 reports and petitions put in on them and what did Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) do to them nothing.

2. People who earned their levels, Advanced Abilities points (AA’S) and equipment were mad, upset, frustrated and dismayed on Monster Missions (MM’S). I know I use to play them a lot but when that expansion had came out I was level 55 and I didn’t power level myself through level 1 to level 70 and earn 500 aa’s and not how to utilize them or correctly play my character. I know people who played eq for a long time were upset because they felt they had earned everything that had gotten then comes along mm’s and changes everything. I can agree and understand their experience and frustration.

3. People were sick and tired of reporting bugs and SOE did nothing to fix them or give people something as their epic when the mob either went away or the encounter went wrong. I mean for example when I started I went to the Field Of Bone (FOB) and when I would fight the bear like creatures whenever I would get it low enough on hit points the mob would run away and go right through the wall and either escape or come back with friends and then I would either have to run off and zone out to break agro or risk dying because at level 5 or 6 taking on 20 or 30 red con or yellow con mobs wasn’t going to happen.

4. Now reason some people left eq is they had been on it since the beginning and just tired of it, their parents told them to quit or they went to a different game. I mean now we have World of War Craft, Dungeons and Dragons, Vanguard, Ever Quest 2, Guild Wars, War Hammer Online, etc so eq isn’t the only game out their anymore so some people like new games and wanted to experience something different and play a whole new game.

5. The 5th reason I did last on purpose and should be obvious to everyone. I believe the main reason most people left is because SOE was coming out with an expansion everyone six months. I mean I am sorry I have a life and I can’t and won’t play eq 24 hours a day. I understand people in top raiding guilds such as HUHU horde; Machine Shin, Dark templers etc could possibly beat an expansion in 6 months and were ready to progress on. I believe however the majority of us were not in them type of guilds and were tired of trying to keep up or get gear just to have it outdated in 6 months. I believe some people left because they felt they had dictated allot of their time, money, energy and effort into getting their gear, aa’s, levels, keys, flag, equipment etc just to have soe come out with an expansion every 6 months so then all they did was pointless in their eyes. I am sorry it is fine and dandy for those who are in top raiding guilds or box to might be able to keep up but for those of us who don't box or are not in top raiding guilds I am sorry to say we need time to enjoy the game as well and have a chance to explore.

I believe the reason why some people have came back including myself we see now soe has finally slowed it down to an expansion a year like it should have been in the first place. I am also coming back because I like the design of the game, the control of the game, my friends, family and experience I have had on it and after 1 ½ year absence I missed it. I am also coming back because I can’t stand eq 2, Dungeons and Dragons, World of War craft, or Guild Wars. I have not tried Vanguard nor do I want to or War Hammer Online. I am coming back because I have invested too much money, time, effort and energy just to give up. I just love eq to much besides I am not the same person I was when I left and have decided to not let the immature people who do ks, whine, complain and want to ruin others fun stop me. I am also not going to let the people who do 6 box, in uber high end raid guilds or people who continue to say the game is going to going to be gone next week stop me I don’t 6 box or even 2 box I have one account and that is plenty for me. I feel I am just going to do on the game what it was meant to be entertainment and besides there is always something to do from grouping, mini raids with friends or people I meet, doing quests, working on trade skills or just sitting back relaxing talking with people. This new expansion along with level cap increase will be interesting,I am back LOL. These are just my opinions and know there are many others and some people may agree with me or disagree with me but I do not want an argument it is just my opinion whether it be right, wrong or indifferent. I will say this in closing if you don't like eq the people on it or the way it is headed on simple thing to do is quit no amount of complaining is going to change anything I say enjoy eq and the new expansion I know I will.

I completely agree with you man...I've been away from EQ for nearly 5 plus years....I was a yong teenager when I started playing....and I am now starting to get the itch to come back.....and it's not for any other reason that to have fun.....and it'll be interesting to see how much the Land of Norrath has changed since I've been gone....when I left I had a level 32 Shaman by the name of Pedegree....some may remember me...but others may not....it's a shame that we're not able to freeze an account or something...cuz I've love to have been able to continue where I left off....but oh well.....

I have to agree with some of these statments....posted below or above.....i hope SOE don't charge 40$$. Being that everyone who came back durring Legacy, and converted account to paying got SoF for free. I dont see paying 40 bucks for 1 expansion, and getting all the others, "we" already have. Lets hope they rethink the "all" in one bundle like the have done with the last 2 expansions, getting tired of paying 40$$ for stuff i already had, and dont need...lets hope those who have "all" others, choose a pkg with just the New expansion.

As far as the expansion goes...cant wait.....i remember when Kith changed over to the bloody version, Heck was scared to death to go threw there at night....countless people would wait at zone in till despawn time. or would get IVUD and book it and pray ya didnt get HT.

Will be very interesting to see how this new expansion handles spells/loot and game play...lookin forward.
grinding levels.. AGAIN???

Well this certainly explains why Guk became corrupt and Blackburrow was reinforcing itself as well as why SoE has been going on a Riftseeker orgy (LoN cards, RSS hotzone, Pyrilens in BB/Guk). lol

This has the ability to be SoE's best idea since.. i dunno when. But this i personally think is a fine line to tread. they have 2 ways to go with this. they could either live entirely up to expectations and bring millions of people back or they could ***** it up in so many ways it kills it for so many people. at this point it's NOT that they are re using GoD/OoW content. they are sending us back in time not ONLY through everything we have been through since 1999 but even stuff we have only heard tales of from the old EQ lore. They simply picked Muramites for 2 reasons, 1. they are a warfare race and 2. they have Riftseekers that can create portals to these time periods and use PoTime etc to that advantage. Everyone expects this is all about the Muramites now. i don't think it is. i think they're just a springboard and a reason for us to go back and live all the cool stuff we did at level 1 at lvl 85 as well as live the old EQ lore and tales. The Muramites simply brought us there. But there is a ton of ways SoE could mess this up and i pray to God this one lives up to it's hype. anyway /rant off heh

Anyone hear what the expected cost of the expansion will be, and if there will be a pack available for those of us that didnt purchase SoF due to the stupidity of high price for 13 expansions included that we all had already....

# Aug 14 2008 at 10:57 PM Rating: Decent
They said every expansion will include all previous ones so im sure it will be 40$ and how can you say thats stupid its still cheaper then when they were putting out 2 expansions a year.

stupidity in my eyes, for the mere reason that this game expansion by expansion was what 29.99 each expansion x how ever many you already bought. In my case triology, then individual after that. So, why would I want to pay $40.00 to get 13 expansions I already own, and one more. If they are all multi packs, then now by spending the $40.00 if that is the cost, I will be getting two that I dont own already. After all, how many people just returned to the game that likely quit back when the Depths of Dark..... expansion came out, due to the Monster missions and such, that just got SoF for free, if they chose to stay after living legacy. Again, i end up on my usual complaint, that those of us who stayed and never left, had to pay $40.00 to advance our characters past level 75, but people that left over a year ago or more, could hit hot zones, and cap at 80 in a week, if they chose to. Enough said on this note.
expected cost?
# Aug 16 2008 at 4:21 PM Rating: Decent
People need to just ignore the fact that it has all previous expansions... it'd be $40 regardless since they went to one expansion per year which is still cheaper than when it was 2 per year which would cost $60. They added the all in one because now it doesnt make much sense to put out the box sets like Titanium, Anniversary Edition, etc.

I'm so sick of hearing people whine and complain about this. If cant sapre 10 extra bucks per YEAR then you don't need to be playing a game like this.

edracer, go to test where expansions are free and spare us your I pay for 5 accounts woes. If you can't afford it then don't freaking have 5 accounts.
Additionally, stop being suprised that the level cap is going to increase EVERY single year, not all of us have been playing for 10 years and are still under the current level cap.

Looks like THE best expansion EVER!. I have played since Beta for original Everquest, and I have raided, been in many guilds.. And this looks like THE best expansion, love the new graphics and I think we amy be traeted to new players models.. If you look at the picture of the two chars fighting they are new char models.. I cannot wait to fight with NPCs would be great to form a full group or a raid outta NPCs but this probalbly can not be done. But I play many charcaters and one is a Necro and I play with a Magician and it'd be awesome to have a NPC healer or slower with us to help speed things along.. Several ways they could go about doing this NPC thing, they could have it so the NPC is 10 levels lower then the lowest member in the group. So the highest you could have an NPC i level 75, or it could be level85 but at shroud strength.. Either way having a spot open and needing extra DPS or healage is great.. Specially if you dont want to join a group for hours and log on for 30 minutes or less.. I LOVE this story line would be great to go back to these wars and fight along long dead kings and knights.. I think this will bring back EQ and really bring new and old players back in the game.. Nice job Sony I think you have hit one out of the park this time.

Sounds cool. I started playing when Kunark had just become the 1st expansion released. and I love the lore behind some of the old world stuff, for nothing else other than getting to play around with this whole new merc system (i suspect NPC 3-8 levels below player's current lvl and of course they'll need to have classes). I'll be fun to see how exactly Kith has come to the way it is, or *crosses fingers* getting to go through the battles of Sebillis with the dragon wars among Trak and what not. I think this will bring a new mix of things to the table, also considering you'll have high end players chatting and hanging out in zones that low level players will be passing through or XPing in, which honestly everyone seems to be pretty segregated these days (unless looking for buffs in GL). I'm looking forward to it, but am still a bit skeptical about some things I've heard.

Figured it would be about the muramites ever since those high level mobs were appearing in lower zones and turning into muramites when they died. I liked GoD and OoW and I am really excited about them bringing the muramites back. SoF and the whole new "flagging" thing that made this game boring and easy made me leave and this will most likely bring me back depending on how bad they ***** it up by only listening to high end raiding guilds that care nothing but getting gear. So it is going to be bringing at least one old player back...lets hope they dont make the mistakes like they did in SoF and bring more back
Sounds interesting
# Aug 14 2008 at 2:29 PM Rating: Good
So we get another level increase, some new zones and some old one's redone so maybe they'll have something like the two zones they did for Living Legacy, and having NPC's under our control could be fun as well.

It's not portals into the future it's portals into the past. The majority of us haven't been playing since EQ was in Beta testing all those years ago, haven't you ever wondered about how things were before all the expansions came out? Come on guys this could be fun give it a chance before you start tearing it down

Gee, on my server the past 4-6 weeks have been nothing but fun in the revamped zones. Guk & BB didn't have less than 30 peeps in zone during primetime playing hours, brought back lots of nostalgia from back in the day. Also, the old world zones are waaaay less lag than newer zones. Check the baz on your server for the drops from BB & Guk... betting that at least someone was in there farming stuff. So quit getting your panties twisted cause you don't like the new xpansion. There is a solution to your problem though, its called ending your subscription to EQ or just simply not buying the newest xpac.

Ya I have to agree with you, why don't they just add a new zone and leave the old ones the way they are. I, on occasion, travel the old zones reminiscing. Part of the allure of EQ to me is knowing the old zones so well. I despise the 'New Freeport'.
