Icecrown Raid Test Schedule Posted for Oct. 26-30

Daelo has posted the Icecrown Citadel raid testing schedule on the PTR for Oct. 26-30. It looks like players on the North American test realms will face Festergut tonight at 7 p.m. EDT. There's nothing planned for the European servers tonight, but Lord Marrowgar will be up on Oct. 27 at 19:30 CEST.

Only normal difficulties will be tested, although 10- and 25-player raids will be available. You can read the full schedule after the jump. As always, the Icecrown Citadel raid test schedule can change in the blink of an eye, so don't be surprised if bug or server issues force Blizzard to move or cancel some of the events.

Northrend's New Kalu'ak Fishing Derby!

Slorkuz just posted details on the new Kalu'ak Fishing Derby I mentioned last week here. The new event will test your skill and also require you to be rather lucky. Every Wednesday at 8 PM players can attempt to catch the rare Blacktip Shark. Elder Clearwater will be waiting for one hour in Dalaran for the first person to bring the shark to him. You will be rewarded for the trouble if you do.

More info on the Derby is located after the jump.

Will Windows 7 Improve Your MMO Experience?

This week was a big one for about 90 percent of all computer users. That is to say; 90 percent of those computers users are running Microsoft's Windows operating system, as opposed to an Apple or Linux OS. And unless you've been living in a cave lately, you've heard that Windows 7, the highly-anticipated next-generation OS from Microsoft launched last week, with record-breaking sales. But what does this mean for gamers? Specifically, as an MMO gamer, is Windows 7 something you should be interested in, if given the choice? Is it really worth shelling out the cash for Microsoft's newest OS, when your copy of XP or Vista seems to run your MMOs just fine?

The short answer is yes; there are incentives to upgrade. Of course, as any level-headed consumer, you should do a little research and weigh the pros and cons, especially as they apply to your personal computing experience. Since most of us don't use our PCs exclusively to play MMOs, there are other factors (productivity, for example) to consider. But for an MMO gamer, Windows 7 does offer improvements and benefits from the aging XP operating system, if your hardware can support it. Users of the newer Vista OS will also notice improvements, as Windows 7 is its natural successor, or "what Vista should have been in the first place," as many have said. Let's take a look at the viability of upgrading to Windows 7 and, more importantly, why it matters to fans of the MMO genre.

Infinite Dust Fix Delayed; Achievement Clarified

Blizzard has made a couple clarifications on the official forums regarding the disenchanting and shattering hotfix and the Sinister Calling achievement. Bornakk had stated in the in-game fixes thread that "disenchanting and shattering has been slightly altered to provide more Infinite Dust than before," but Zarhym confirmed that the hotfix has been delayed. The fix will be applied sometime in the near future.

As for the Hallow's End achievement, here's what Bornakk had to say about it: "The text says that both a Hallowed Helm and a Sinister Squashling pet need to be 'obtained' for the achievement to be complete. More specifically, the pet needs to be learned and become part of your pet spell book for that part to be complete. The Hallowed Helm on the other hand needs to be looted by the character to fulfill that aspect of the achievement."

Blizzard Posts Transcript of Twitter Dev Chat

Blizzard held its first developer chat on Twitter yesterday, and thankfully Aratil posted the questions and answers in the official forums for all of the players who missed it or don't use the microblogging site. Game Director Tom Chilton and Director of Production J. Allen Brack answered numerous questions from the community, which covered topics such as patch 3.3 and Cataclysm.

You can read the full Q&A after the jump and discuss it in this thread in our official forums. What are your thoughts on Blizzard's first foray into Twitter dev chats? Both Nethaera and Bornakk suggested this was a trial run and may or may not be held again. Do you feel it was a success? Would you participate in other Twitter chats?

Scavenging, WoW Style

Lok'Tar Humans! We of the Allakhazam Content Team at ZAM are running an iLvL219 contest over the next couple of weeks to celebrate the Hallows Eve event in World of Warcraft.

Mage, Rogue, Warlock Tier 10 Previews Added

A couple weeks ago, Blizzard released previews of the new Tier 10 models for Death Knights, Druids, Hunters, and Warriors that will be available in patch 3.3. Sneak peeks of the Mage, Rogue and Warlock sets were just added to the preview page today, and you can view high-res images of the armor after the jump.

So what do you think of the sets? The Rogue helm is certainly...interesting. It kind of looks like the model wasn't able to avoid a headshot from a Hunter.

Dev Team's Not Happy with Current Vanish Fix

When the dev team's proposed Vanish fix hit the PTR earlier this month, Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street said giving rogues a one-second window may have been too generous. The ability's immunity has been dropped to 0.5 seconds, but Ghostcrawler said today that the team is "not happy with the current Vanish fix on the PTR."

Ghostcrawler reiterated that the team is attempting to make Vanish work as advertised, but he's not sure the buffer is doing that. Here's what the devs are working toward: "If you Vanish after a single targeted spell is cast, you're safe, even if the missile is still in the air. If an AE spell is cast on you, even if you just went into stealth, it should break you out." The problem is they need to resolve the conflict between missile travel time and Vanish.

"The bad news is that since this is a code fix, it might not make it into 3.3. The good news is that because it is likely a server fix, it doesn't need to wait for a major patch," Ghostcrawler said. So there's hopefully a Vanish fix in store for rogues, but don't be surprised if it's not implemented in the near future. You can read the full post after the jump.

PTR Build 10623 Achievement Changes

Another new PTR build has gone up with the build number 10623. With it comes a few changes to achievements mostly for Icecrown Citadel but there is a very interesting one mentioning a new fishing event that changes the old Master Angler of Stranglethorn achievement.

You can read more about them after the jump.
