Blizzard Launches Darkmoon Faire Promotional Site

Blizzard has launched a new Darkmoon Faire site to promote Cataclysm, and players can unlock all sorts of content for the Horde and Alliance by liking and sharing the site's content on Facebook. You can take a personality test, draw fortune cards to look into the future, and submit your work for the video and image contests.

As players use these features and share the content through Facebook, they will unlock never-before seen Cataclysm artwork, ringtones, "The Shattering" novel excerpts, developer interviews, and exclusive cinematic trailers leading up to the launch of Cataclysm on Dec. 7.

Experience for Levels 71-80 Will be Reduced by 20%

World of Warcraft player Sammew posted a thread on the official World of Warcraft forums that explains what is and isn't being implemented in patch 4.03a. Zarhym responded to the thread and announced that the experience required to gain levels 71 through 80 is being reduced by 20% in the upcoming patch. He also mentioned that druids, paladins, priests, and shaman will have their talent trees reset.

Blizzard has made similar exp adjustments in previous expansions to keep the time it takes to level a character to the new cap from getting too lengthy. You can read Sammew's explanation of the differences between 4.0.3a and Cataclysm after the jump.

Allen Brack and Game Director Tom Chilton, and the dynamic duo answered numerous questions regarding patch 4.0.3a and Cataclysm. Best Buy posted a transcript of the chat in its forums, which you can find after the jump.

The chat featured questions from a pool of approximately 500 players. What questions would you have asked Brack and Chilton?

Blizzard Releases Rated Battlegrounds FAQ

In preparation for the launch of Cataclysm on Dec. 7, Blizzard has released a Rated Battlegrounds FAQ to answer questions players may have regarding the new system. Basically, Rated Battlegrounds let level 85 players compete in 10v10 or 15v15 brackets in battlegrounds like Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm, Strand of the Ancients, Battle for Gilneas, and Twin Peaks.

You can read the entire FAQ after the jump.

Cataclysm Zone Preview: Tol Barad

Cataclysm may be just around the corner, but Blizzard is still posting previews of the new zones. The newest preview focuses on Tol Barad, an open world PvP and questing zone similar to Wintergrasp. Tol Barad will accept up to 80 players per faction and feature capture-point gameplay. The defending side will have to protect three keeps and three towers, while the attacking side must destroy them with the help of Abandoned Siege Engines.

The full Tol Barad preview can be found after the jump.

No Pets Planned for WoW's 6th Anniversary

World of Warcraft turns six years old on Nov. 23, and Blizzard is celebrating by giving out a feat of strength to players who log into the game between Nov. 30 and Dec. 14. Daxxarri has some sad news for pet collectors, though:

"There isn't a pet planned for this year, no. We plan to reserve this sort of celebratory bonus for the most notable milestones or events in the future."

So there's no pet planned, but at least you can get your feat of strength. That should be pretty easy to accomplish since the Dec. 7 launch of Cataclysm is included in the window.

Original WoW Forums Enter Read-Only State Nov. 17

It looks like the shattering of Azeroth will put an end to the original WoW official forums. The forums will be put into a read-only state tomorrow, Nov. 17, before they will be completely removed at the end of the month. If you want to save any specific posts, now's the time to do it before they're gone forever.

While the old forums will disappear, the new World of Warcraft forums will give posters a fresh start with some new features, including the ability to rate posts. Since we're on the topic of forums, you can discuss the topic in our own WoW general forum.

The End of the World (of Warcraft)

Well, last night the fourth stage of the Elemental Invasion began.  Let's take a quick look at how this all started.

A few weeks ago, some of you might have noticed a new quest giver in your respective main cities. The quests were small, mostly just running around and clicking. They stayed in the starter areas, and had some lore leading up to where we are now.

First we were investigating cultists. Joining their ranks, earning their trust and taking orders from the leader, Cho'gall himself. Finally, after uncovering their plan to use elementals, we thwarted them.
