WoW Shows: Legendary #14 and Blizz Blues #2

The GameBreaker.TV team has been busy this week with their two World of Wacraft shows. Legendary episode 14 is out and focuses on the clearing of Tier 1 content, updates to the PTR patch 4.0.6 notes, World of Starcraft and more. GameBreaker.TV's Gary Gannon, ZAM's Mike B. aka Fony and TankSpot's Josh "Lore" Allen cover all these topics after the jump.

Also, Darnell is back with the second episode of Blizz Blues. He's a bit traumatized by the fireworks of the Lunar Festival, but he's still going to try and talk you through some of the event's achievements. Check it out below!

World of Warcraft Hotfixes: January 19-26

Blizzard has posted its latest batch of hotfixes, and the list covers a week's worth of changes. The hotfixes include some token updates and what is apparently a "small overall buff" to paladin healing, even though it involves a reduction in the passive healing bonus from Walk in the Light.

Check out the full list of hotfixes after the jump.

Ask Blizzard Your World of Warcraft Lore Questions

Blizzard is once again asking players to submit their World of Warcraft lore questions for another Ask Creative Development segment. Blizzard received more than 1,000 unique questions last time, so it's a safe bet that the team will have a large pool of questions to choose from for this round.

If you have a lore question you'd like answered, head over to the official North American forum or European forum and post it. Highly rated posts will be more likely to receive answers, so read through the thread and click the "Like" button on your favorite questions.

Do you have lore questions that you want answered by Chris Metzen and the creative development department?

Blizzard Delays Release of 2200 Rating PvP Weapons

Back in December, Blizzard announced that Conquest weapons requiring 2200 rating were going to be made available on Jan. 25. According to a post by Community Manager Daxxarri, Blizzard now plans to make the weapons available approximately two weeks after the release of patch 4.0.6. So why the delay?

"The decision to further delay availability of weapons requiring 2200 rating was not made lightly. Currently very few guilds are clearing PvE content that drops weapons of this caliber, which would make rated Battlegrounds and Arenas the primary source for top-tier weapons. We of course don’t want players who are pursuing PvE content to feel as though they must engage in heavy PvP to obtain these weapons in order to be competitive or successful."

Apparently Blizzard has some plans to help avoid similar situations in the future. What are your thoughts on the delay?

WoW's Latest Player Tips: If Only I'd Known

World of Warcraft's latest New Player Tips series is out and this time the topic is "If I knew then what I know now." Remember that time you walked all the way from Stormwind to Ironforge because you'd never heard of the Deeprun Tram? Or when your rogue accidentally rolled need on a caster dagger? Every new player makes mistakes because there's just no way to know everything.

So share some of your knowledge with a newer player. What about Azeroth do you wish you'd known right from the get-go?

ZAM Featured WoW Blog: Aspect of the Hare

Our latest blog feature is Aspect of the Hare. The blog records the whimsical journeys of Pike though the World of Warcraft, through her various characters.

Pike has played many different characters over the years, but the majority of the blog articles feature one of her several Hunters. There’s a lighter side to some of the Hunter articles, such as finally taming a rare pet. Other posts are more informational, such as breaking down the changes to the Beast Mastery spec in patch 4.0.

Of course, more classes are covered as well. As Pike would put it, “I like to say I majored in Hunters, minored in Druids, and rode mechanostriders on the weekends.” There are articles about the Pike’s adventures with a Resto Druid and several other alts, including a recently created Worgen Mage.

For those who are looking for something to spice up their online forum experience, Pike also makes custom “World of WarCute” avatars; something those of you with a premium membership here on ZAM may be interested in checking out!

As always, please let us know if you know of a blog you’d like to have featured in this space. You can e-mail us at zamfeaturedblogs@gmail.com or send a PM to Xsarus on the forums.

After the jump, we have an interview with the writer of the blog.

World of Warcraft Ventures Into the Classroom

Two schools began using World of Warcraft in an after school club as a way to reach out to disaffected students. The program has morphed into an elective language arts class. Students from Cape Fear Middle School in Rocky Point, North Carolina and Suffern Middle School in New York have formed their own guild and even maintain their own wiki page. The project has grown to include more schools and the wiki offers tips for teachers looking to implement the course.

Former Biology teacher and Program Creator Lucas Gillespie says the program’s goals are to reach disaffected students and teach writing and language skills.

"When I was still in the classroom, I had students who could argue the finer points of wielding maces versus daggers quite eloquently, and I thought, 'Where is this passion for the parts of the cell or for genetics?'"

The students write argumentative pieces, poetry, character tweets, and analyze the plots of quest chains. They also read J.R.R. Tolkien’s "The Hobbit" to analyze Bilbo’s archetypical "hero’s quest" in relation to WoW level progression. A fully developed course aligned to middle-school standards will be available freely under a Creative Commons license.

Locke Explores Azeroth: Darkshore

Once upon a time, back around the release of the Burning Crusade, a poster named Azuarc started a series of topics called “Zone of the Week" in our World of Warcraft general forum. These topics were open-ended opportunities for forum members to discuss what they did or did not like with certain zones. Azuarc focused mostly on the zones released with the first expansion, but we live in a different age now.

The Cataclysm introduced not only new level 80+ and racial zones, but changed the zones WoW players have known like the back of their hands for years. In an effort to reintroduce these zones to our members, and perhaps point out some things you might have missed, I'm reviving the Zone of the Week in the form of an ongoing series of editorials. So, sit back and enjoy the first installment, with the newest changes to Darkshore.

Lunar Festival Returns to Honor Azeroth's Elders

It's time once again to honor your elders in World of Warcraft! The Lunar Festival kicks off tomorrow, Jan. 23, and ends Feb. 13. Get ready to celebrate with the druids of Moonglade and praise the ancestors of Azeroth with fireworks and other festivities.

Check out Wowhead's Lunar Festival guide for information on the event's quests, achievements and rewards. Since Cataclysm completely revamped Azeroth, some of the elders may have moved. The Wowhead team will be updating the guide non-stop until all of the locations are 100% accurate, and you can help by reporting incorrect locations in this thread or by sending an e-mail to feedback@wowhead.com.

UPDATE: The guide has been completely updated with 2011's event coordinates.

The Lunar Festival runs for the next three weeks, so you should have plenty of time to enjoy the celebration. What are your thoughts on this in-game event?
