Dev Watercooler: Ghostcrawler on Crit Percentages

In his latest Dev Watercooler blog entry, Lead Systems Designer Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street discusses the logic behind having different crit percentages for different classes and suggests that any crit in the game could ultimately be set at 200% to balance the playing field.

"It would be a very simple rule, and I’d argue any loss of class distinction is more than made up for by the positive balance ramifications," he said. Of course, nothing mentioned in these Dev Watercooler entries is set in stone, so we'll have to wait and see if this change becomes a reality.

Guild Chat Launches for iPhone with Free Preview

Blizzard just announced that the remote Guild Chat feature has been added to the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The Android version of the feature should be released soon. As previously outlined, this feature allows players to participate in guild chat, send whispers to their guildmates and more through their phone.

Players will ultimately need to pay $2.99 per month to subcribe to the World of Warcraft remote service to gain access to the remote Guild Chat feature, as well as buy and sell items on the Auction House. However, Blizzard is currently offering a limited free trial period so players can try out the Guild Chat feature without a subscription.

During the free preview, Blizzard will be rolling out the Guild Chat feature to select realms, with more realms being added in the future. The feature is currently only available on the Fizzcrank and Lightbringer servers, but keep checking the announcement as the service will eventually be made available on all realms.
