Happy Second Anniversary League of Legends!

It seems like it was only a short time ago when I was toddling around in the League of Legends early beta, asking developers what champion I should start with. But I suppose, as the cliche goes, time flies when you're having fun, and League of Legends is now celebrating its amazing two year anniversary! To celebrate, Riot is releasing a new Surprise Party Fiddlesticks skin (seen above); normally where legendary skins are worth 1875 Riot Points, this one will be half price at 975 Riot Points.

Regardless, from the team here at ZAM and the millions of summoners around the world, happy anniversary League of Legends, and here's to many more!

A Buyer's Guide to League of Legends: Riven

With the Gamania Game Show happening in Taiwan two weeks ago, and last week's visit to Baltimore to check out Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (soon I will be able to tell you about it, I promise!), I'll admit that I haven't had many opportunities to get my League of Legends fix. This didn't, however, stop me from keeping up with the latest news, so when Riven, The Exile, was announced, I knew exactly what champion I'd be stomping it up with in my first few returning games to Runeterra. So if you were considering whether or not to pick up this unique sword-stump wielding champion, read on for your Buyer's Guide to League of Legends: the Riven edition!

League of Legends: Dominion is Now Available

League of Legends: Dominion is now live! The capture-and-hold mode brings a new style of gameplay to the battle arena title, allowing players to fight for control of five strategic targets on the Crystal Scar map. Dominion is all about fast-paced action, with matches lasting around 20 minutes.

The League of Legends: Dominion limited beta kicks off today, giving players to opportunity to test the game's new capture-and-hold game mode. Here are the details from Lead Community Manager Andrew "Tamat" Beegle:

"Over the coming days, we’ll be opening testing windows on our platforms during off-peak hours, each of which will be prefaced by a forum announcement to let you know you can and participate. Making the Most of Your Low-Level Summoner

With League of Legends' (Season One coming to an end in just two short weeks (I hope everyone made it to the new gold ELO cut-off!) and Dominion set to hit the stage soon, there's no better time than now to introduce yourself to this mega-popular free-to-play game. For players who are unfamiliar with the LoL genre, however, starting your journey to level 30 can be a daunting task. League of Legends' player community can be quite abrasive to new players, and the unique learning curve of this game can dissuade some from enjoying their early experiences. Believe it or not, levelling up League of Legends can be an enjoyable experience, so I've decided to write a little bit about how to get the most out of your climb to the top.

A Buyer's Guide to League of Legends: Skarner!

Whenever Riot Games releases a new champion, I like to think that my opinions are a fair reflection of the overall League of Legends community. Every now and then, however, I get really excited about an upcoming champion so, instead of even seeing what the community has to say, I just play piles of games against all sorts of opponents, tweaking my item builds, runes, and masteries, before I find something that elevates this latest addition to a whole new level. Usually, I'll emerge from my lab sessions with the opinion that this champion will be a top-tier contributor with my methods, but more often than not, I'm met with a community set on believing that Riot has introduced another underpowered champion. With all of this in mind, let's get down to talking about the newest addition to the League of Legends: Skarner, the Crystal Vanguard.

Season Two to Feature $5 Million Prize Pool

If you're a great League of Legends player, you could be swimming through cash and prizes like Scrooge McDuck. Riot Games just announced that League of Legends Season Two will feature a record-setting $5 million prize pool!

"The money will be funding prizing for local, national and international tournaments to foster and grow the League of Legends eSports scene. For starters, the new season will feature weekly livestreams of our ongoing regional tournaments in North America, and across both European enviornments, so stay tuned for more information on these broadcasts and to see a lot more of League of Legends enthusiasts like Phreak, Rivington III  and Nikasaur."

Riot also hinted that "this substantially increased prize pool is just the first glimpse into what we have planned for the upcoming season." League of Legends Season Two is coming this fall.
