The Final Battle Begins in Guild Wars 2 next week as players begin the journey that takes the war to Scarlet. In Escape from Lion's Arch that released last week, players had to evacuate the city and save as many citizens as possible. Next week, on March 4, the Battle for Lion's Arch content patch will go live and have players gather as one to take back the city of Lion's Arch!
The Siege Begins later today as Scarlet’s forces invade Lion’s Arch and change Guild Wars 2 forever. Some of our readers wanted to know more of what GW2’s soon to be released patch, Escape from Lion’s Arch, has in store for them, so we gathered up your questions and asked ArenaNet’s own Mike Zadorojny for answers.
At the end of last year, ArenaNet held the first season of World vs World (WvW) which had servers competing in a 7-week long battle for supremacy in Guild Wars 2. Today, Devon Carver announced that WvW Season 2 is being replaced with the WvW Spring 2014 Tournament which runs from March 28 through May 16.
Lion's Arch has been a major city in both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. It has survived pirate sabotage and the onslaught from armies of both the living and undead. The city even persisted through the cataclysmic rise of the Elder Dragon Zhaitan and the tidal forces it created from the rising of Orr. Lion’s Arch has always endured.
But nothing lasts forever. The Siege Begins on February 18 with the Escape from Lion’s Arch content release for Guild Wars 2.

Cosmetic items have been a big part of Guild Wars 2’s gem store. Through this cash shop players have been able to buy new weapon and armor skins and things like unlimited use finishers and harvesting tools that have unique animations and flair. Something that I’m surprised hasn’t been sold in the gem store is new pet skins for the Ranger pets.
Edge of the Mists launches later today in Guild Wars 2. Players will soon discover that no place is safe from the villain Scarlet Briar as the new World vs. World map is overrun with Aetherblade pirates. If things were not already bad, the major Living World characters Braham and Taimi have become stranded in the Mists. Players will need to help them while fending off Aetherblade attacks!
Last week, ZAM sent out a call for community questions about today’s patch and we had the opportunity to talk with Mike Zadorojny to get these questions and more answered. The Edge of the Mists was in a public beta test up until a few weeks ago which allowed players to see what would soon be coming to Guild Wars 2. It was then only natural that many questions would be about the new addition to the map: the Aetherblades.
Next week, the Edge of the Mists comes to Guild Wars 2. This new map will allow players to participate in WvW without any wait due to its ability to create overflows. Today, ArenaNet released a blog post detailing some of the other quality of life updates that will be part of next week's update.

The End Begins today with the release of The Origins of Madness content patch for Guild Wars 2. The last patch for Guild Wars 2 was on December 10th. Among the Wintersday and Living World content that was released, players were able to start crafting Ascended armor. Ascended weapon crafting had come out earlier in the year and displayed what players could expect from ascended crafting: lots of lower tiered materials and time-gated crafting.
