Working on installing a new comp at work. Apparently we have Websense on our network, which blocks this page. However, it only blocks it in Firefox. Load it up in IE, works fine. Makes no damn sense.

Also doesn't block anything on the old computer, regardless of browser.

After some research, turns out Websense wasn't on the local computer. Turns out Firefox was configured to connect via a websense proxy server. They had me blocked from being able to change that, but it turns out I still have admin privileges, so that was easy enough to fix. I am back in business.

Probably how it was working with the old comp, too.

I love ineffective blocks like that.

God. @#%^ing. Dammit.

Idiot coworker decided to try updating Firefox. Ignored the prompt that Firefox Installer would not be able to make a complete installation without admin privileges and told it to install anyway. Now FF is broken, I don't have the admin privileges to fix it(I'm confident that I could bypass the proxy if I could get it working again) and I'm stuck back behind the proxy.

Tried editing the registry to remove the proxy script for IE/Chrome and I apparently can't save anything to the registry. Not surprised, but it was worth a shot.

Now I have to remote in to another computer and connect to the internet through it to bypass the proxy. Thankfully, it's a powerful machine. I mean, it's got the latest in Windows XP technology and something like a gig of RAM. Smiley: banghead

These posts always remind me how nice it is to be the network administrator.
