That job I applied for way earlier this year and didn't get?
The woman who got it over me (who I actually respect very much since she does amazing work)told me she was leaving into a new department and she recommended me to fill the spot in the interim. I worked in the position from mid-August until HR finally worked out the hiring process my sup could use (public jobs, have to follow a process). They ended up using the same list of applicants they interviewed previously and I got the job over six others. It helped that I needed no training, am on the same wavelength as my sup, and also am a pretty amazing guy, in addition to working the job for two months prior. My entire team has had no complaints about me so far and I am doing about twice the work as my other counterpart. The job came with a nice ~$5 an hour raise and more vacation. I just got my first check last week in my new role and I have to say that I'm very happy.
I think my next step is that I need to go back to school. Without a degree of some type, I'm going to hit a dead end here relatively soon. Funnily enough though, I have now interviewed and gotten two positions with the state where other individuals were vastly more qualified than me in both education and experience.Don't misinterpret this by the way, I'm not being cocky, I just strive to do a great job and am always helping others and have gotten a fairly decent reputation since we moved roles down to our department headquarters earlier this year.
To give a short, concise explanation of my jorb...
Completing the final quality assurance review process for FoodShare and/or Medicaid cases; providing technical assistance to regional staff to ensure that FoodShare and/or Medicaid reviews meet federal quality control requirements; reviewing and interpreting new federal quality control policy directives for impact and recommending operational response; serving on project teams working with income maintenance and quality assurance procedures to develop and implement error reduction efforts in conjunction with the FoodShare Policy and Medicaid Policy sections of the Division.
I basically act as a lead and a policy and program subject matter expert. I've also become my supervisors go to guy for new projects and a host of other duties.
Mostly though, I find ****** up **** from the counties and send it to them and tell them to get their **** together. lulz
