I haven't started watching yet. Just finished Chrome Shelled Regios. Will watch all of this week's episodes tomorrow. Also, discussion officially starts Monday, so let's spoiler til then?
First episode done. Meh. I'm a bit picky; I don't watch much anime at all. I wasn't really pulled into this. Character design is OK, nothing special. I didn't really found myself caring about any of the characters, except feeling bad for the squid monster because if his bro leaves, he'll be all alone.
I'll watch the rest of this week's episodes, but if I were to see this on TV, I'd not be inclined to watch it the next week.

Lighten up Francis, it was a joke. I don't think the revelation that everyone is white was really spoiling everything.

I'd give it two weeks, really. I thought it started a bit slow, but it really ended up drawing me in.
One thing I want people to pay attention to from the outset is the seemingly differing styles of artwork for the characters. It may just be me, but Age looks like he belongs in SE game, and one of the silver clan [who's name I forget] could be placed in Beet the Vandel Buster and nobody would bat an eyelash.

Lighten up, yourself. I wasn't talking about what you had already written, it was just something I was gonna put in the OP when I started the discussion thread, but you beat me to doing so.
Look at that one silver guy and tell me I'm totally crazy, btw. Give Kiss (the blond in that pic) silver hair, and a higher collar, and it's kinda close.
Since discussion officially starts Monday, I'm not gonna discuss anything plot related here, but there is one thing I want to bring up. The music. The score that plays fairly often, quite possibly even the theme of the Iron Tribe, is reminiscent of a documentary. It wouldn't be out of place on Planet Earth. And, in my opinion, it works. Really effing well.
This video probably contains visual spoilers, but the music itself is the point, so don't watch, listen.
I was with Spoonless, I would not have kept watching past the first couple of episodes if I were watching it alone. But Dori decided to show it on the TV and we all watched the first 8 episodes tonight.
I'm not expecting to give the show more than a 6/10, but that's ok. It's a decent watch, almost like watching a Gundam anime, but with not nearly as much the emo
I only got through the first 2 eps, but I like it well enough that I'll try to catch up for next week. Just really busy until next Tuesday. So, from what I've seen so far:
1. I hope that the mecha battles are not the main focus of the series. They seem to be hinting at some good character development, so I hope they stick with that and let the action take a secondary focus.
2. What the **** is with Age's eyes? They're way too feminine imo, don't match the rest of his style. Yes, I think soft eyes for his character would be great. I don't know if it's just really soft eyes + really long eyelashes (which would be perfectly understandable considering his situation), but I just don't quite like that feature of his character art.
3. They mention in ep 2 that the Princess faints if any males besides apparently Age get too close. I wonder if there will be any romance triangles here - main defense guy (son of captain, referred to as a dog compared to Age's monkey) definitely has the hots for her, but that aide definitely likes him.
I watched 3 episodes. I mean, I'll finish it, but I'm not really invested in the characters as of yet. I'm sure there'll be something with Age and the Princess, and obviously that one dude is going to have an issue with it.
The twins (I don't know character names, really) are mildly amusing. I really wish that there were subs on Netflix, because some of the dialog just seems so contrived. Sometimes it's easier to swallow when reading it instead of actually hearing a character say it.
Right now, I'm more interested in if Oron is going to end up being fixed, and if his squid pet/friend is going to be there.
Anyway, I'll watch episode 4 tonight maybe. Cheating ahead by reading the Wiki, there is some stuff in future episodes that interests me, but after three episodes, my initial feeling that I would not continue watching is still accurate.
While I suspected so with the twelve labors, I'm convinced that this is a re-imagining of Hercules after his fight with <Week 2 spoiler>the Hydra. Which is further supported by the captain's son guy being named Iolaous.
Also, as I was writing this post, I just freaking realized that the ship's name is significant too.
I might watch Witchblade. I used to read the comics back in middle and high school, and since it's not a direct adaptation but a re-imagining of the premise, I don't have to worry about things being wrong compared to the comics.
There's not a ton of stuff on Netflix that really interests me in a significant way, but I don't watch much anime.
Haha, same here with Queen's Blade. There are very few series which I have not finished, but not even the nudity and sexual situations could keep me entertained for more than about 4 episodes (I might have made it 6).
