GW2 is being pitched as being distinct from its predecessor. For starters it's a proper persistent world rather than just being able to see other folks in hub towns. They're also attempting a fundamentally different approach to the MMORPG genre. Or at least that's what their PR machine has been doing a really good job of convincing me of for a good while now. Press beta was last weekend so there should be plenty of info floating around the web now.
I'm pretty excited about this game. I think it represents a nice shake-up of design philosophy in the industry and that's a positive thing regardless of whether or not the game tanks.
