I had to replace mine last winter. I think it ran me ~$350 total for the rebuilt alternator and installation.

I've only had three days off, but since I hadn't had a full weekend in four or five weeks before that, I know what ya mean.

Think I'm going to buy a 2012 Hyundai Elantra in October or January. That would figure if it was January because I'll be moving into the DHS building a block off the capital and wouldn't have parking. Looking forward to it, never really had a car that wasn't third or fourth hand.

Now I ride the bus and wish I had a car, then I'll have a car and ride the bus. Smiley: glare

I have an '03 Elantra. It's been a pretty good car, and from everything I've seen, Hyundai has improved greatly even since I got mine.

Somehow, my mind added an "l" to the second word and suddenly your statement had a much different meaning.

Actual conversation with some moron I work with:

Me: Alternator cost $219.

Idiot: You payed way too much <pause while he looks up prices on his phone> I found one for $150, and they even guarantee that it will fit.

Me: If that is the big selling point, it's probably a piece of ****. I'm not buying a Taiwanese electrical component for my vehicle.

Fool: The Japanese make good stuff, guy.

Me: I said Taiwan.

Corky: Isn't Taiwan in Japan?
