Seems like a waste of time and money, but ok.

Sometimes companies eat money in order to keep customers happy. It's known as the cost of doing business.

Eating a loss to keep a customer happy is one thing, but you still need to make a profit somewhere. At the rate this customer buys product it will probably take us 2-3 months to make up what we spent yesterday. The only reason we even deliver to them is because the other driver is right next door by 8 on Tuesday and Thursday. Honestly sales people need to stop promising people stupid **** without talking to shipping first. Oh Yah we can have your gaze here in the next hour. Phone the driver, that's like a 50 minute drive from where I am and I still have 20 cylinders to unload here, who cares make it happen.

Oh, I agree, at some point sales needs to get back bones and tell them that the company can't be losing money just for them. It's ok, imo in rare or emergency situations, but since I'm guessing that the spoilage of bottled gasses low, sales ought to be talking the customer into buying what he needs and some for reserve.
