Yeah... we also don't have gun shops downtown so I guess I am willing to give up the pretzel

I live in Victora... and no, I don't ever recall seeing a gun shop in Vancouver... maybe there is one but it isn't prominent and in the downtown core

Speaking of which I need to walk down the street a couple blocks and look into getting my PAL. Need to get one before my parents go in some freak accident or of old age years from now. They have a bunch of antique guns that we inheritted from our grand father; it would be a shame to lose them because none of the next generation got their possesion acquisition license.

yeah - that would suck. I thought the cons were killing the gun registry? Or was that something different?

I don't think you need to register them, but for me to acquire them through sale or say a last will and testament, I would have to have a PAL or they would go to auction. Same with to buy ammunition for a gun, I think you can buy the casings without a PAL but the bullets or gun powder I think you need a PAL or they aren't allowed to sell it to you. They also keep records of who buys what type of projectiles and powder based on the PAL number for enforcement and tracking purposes.

I had no idea - guns just aren't my thang so I am not really up on the laws. That seems reasonable though. That said I knew a guy who talked about black market guns all the time... he was a blabberface but was probably not making everything up

Yah probly not, I know that of the people my dad hunts with a few don't register their guns or have a PAL and have other people buy them bullets and powder to reload their casings.
