I think it is hilarious that your government can shut down. Ours has too much autocracy for that to ever happen. Geeze haven't you guys heard of an "interim supply bill"?

**** the conservatives and lowering GST by 2%. They should have put the 2% towards the debt and paid it off in something like 4 years from where we were at all those years ago. That lack of interest payments after 4 years would have allowed for something like 100 million more in the budget back when they cut GST.

Yah but by this point your 3.99 hamburger could have been 3.99 with no GST after the debt was paid off. I am sure you get that but I am amazed how many tax payers don't understand how these things work.

meh after the debt was paid off that gst could be applied to have a universal dental care plan for Canadians. I don't mind taxes - and honestly I would rather pay 10 cents on my hamburger than $200 a month in various medical and dental insurances...

I am lucky cause my work covers dental/eyecare/prescriptions but for serious I can't believe how people would argue it is better to spend hundreds of dollars on services that could be provided more cheaply with a national plan... than it is to pay 10 cents more for your hamburger.
