Got this text message today(aroun 6pm). "Hey, tomorrow is <Sales Manager>'s last day and <General Manager>'s birthday, so we're having a farewell + birthday party at lunch. It'd be nice if you were present, please take dessert or chips or drinks. Thank you"

I'm annoyed because they've known that the SM would be leaving for a new position within the company for some time now(nobody told me about it, but they've known) and obviously someone knew it was the GM's birthday, so why must they plan a party the evening before? I mean, I rather like the SM and would feel bad not going(despite the fact that it'll eat into my sleep time), but dammit, I don't like last minute plans when there is no excuse to have left them to the last minute.

Anyway, just felt like ranting.

Send a moderately insulting return email explaining how incredibly insensitive it is to expect someone who worked all night to wake up at what is effectively midnight for them to go to a party. Then don't ask, demand that any further attempts at getting you socialize with the day walkers must be sent at least five days in advance and be accompanied by chest pics.
