I can't imagine K-on in english dubs, I would have to actively ignore the **** that wasn't happening as opposed to passively ignoring the nothing that was happening.

I have only watched the trailer(and to be fair, that was at work and the speakers here aren't great either), but it didn't sound too bad to me. I don't have expectations for their voices not having watched it in Japanese, though, so that could be part of it.

The other part is probably that I compare all anime dubs to the work of the guy who did the voice for Saito on Familiar of Zero.

I think it sounds odd to me, because your average English speaking teenager doesn't sound like that.

Makes me wonder how English dubs would be if the voice actors didn't try sounding like their counterparts.

You mean they're trying to sound like the Japanese VAs and thus just don't sound quite right due to the differences in culture or something?

Partly that, and partly how high pitched their voices are.

The characters in K-on! are supposed to be around 16 at the start of the season, the English voices sound more like 14 imo.

More like 12 actually, or something. I dunno, just too young.

Imma be real honest with you Bandai. I like turtles and anime as much as the next guy, but there's no way in **** I would pay 20-30 dollars for four episodes of a show. Do you really plan to release K-On!! this way as well, on eight to nine discs? I realize this is the way this has been done for years, but your Japanese model is ineffective here in 2011, not to mention unsustainable. I support certain shows and would happily purchase an entire season, but I hope you lose money on this venture.

Also, needs moar blu-ray in general.

I personally tend to wait until entire season box sets are out to buy, myself. It'll probably end up being around $50 for the season at that point.

Though I'll also probably Netflix that ***** before then.

I haven't bought animu in a long time. The stores around here only carry Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, and Bleach these days.
It sickens me.

There's this magical thing nowadays that they call the internet. Through it, you can exchange currency for goods of a more varied nature than what you can find in your immediate locale.

After listening at home, they sounded fine, if a bit more passive(maybe demure is the word I'm looking for?) than a normal 16 year old. My roommate thought they sounded more like 19 year olds(around the age of his sister).
