Like the one where the guy just called and thanked me for speaking English. He didn't want anything, just wanted to thank me for my "patriotism shown by speaking English".
It is a HUGE pet peeve of mine when people call, realize they had the wrong number, wait 5 more seconds, then hang up without saying anything. Is it so hard to just say "Sorry, wrong number"? If you're going to waste my time, at least do it politely.
At my previous job, I worked with a guy whose previous job was at the CIA. He said when they first hired him, they put him on 3rd shift manning the "nut phone." It's the phone that rings if you dial the phone number on their website or something. The craziest of crazy people call the CIA at 3am. "I know you're watching my house. I'm on to you!!!" **** like that. He said some guy called and was all threatening and stuff, so they sent some people to his house.
