Thats the thing. You try to control it now, while you don't have much to worry about.

And what do you think?

Probably doesn't matter, since I don't see any treatment info. There could be worse things, anyways.

Like clinical depression, which is treatable. And it's easier to treat on parent's insurance than from a collection cup on a park bench.

I mean, a many of the symptoms fit, but so do the symptoms of a lot of things. Specifically schizotypal/schizoid (i'm not entirely sure how exactly these even differ), narcissism, psychopathy, ocd, etc can all describe me pretty well (some better than others). Somehow i doubt i have all of these (definitely at least one, if not more), though i'm no expert, i'm i'm unwilling to see an expert, so i can't really say for sure. I've spent quite a bit of time researching them, and have never been able to rule any out. It probably doesn't help that a lot of them overlap quite a bit, or that again, i'm not expert, but still.

Why not at least try to treat it?

Like i mentioned, i took prozac for 3-4 years, along with seeing a psychologist for 4-5. At which point i pretty much stopped giving a **** about stupid **** (mostly it started because my dad randomly started acting like a bigger douchebag than i am to me, which he also went to therapy for (both with me, and on his own), and that got better very, very slowly (but definitely did get quite a bit better after a few years), and basically accepted that he's a douchebag, and that he wouldn't change (he eventually did), and dropped all expectations, and like magic, my depression mostly went away). I've seen been mildly depressed ever since, but not enough to cause any problems until the last week or so (it's been getting worse for a number of weeks now, but still wasn't a big deal until the last week or so, and only got really bad the day i made this thread).

vicious cycle of teh depression leaving you feeling like it's not worth bothering to try, plus the ingrained notion that you can fix it on your own, without help.

I'm sure it will all just go away again.

The fact that i agree with that is probably not helping the situation.

What i really hate about this is that i'd really love to know what an expert thinks of me, but i don't want such a diagnosis dragging me down, especially since i have little trouble acting "normal" when i want/need to Smiley: frown

i'd love to know what an expert thinks of me, but i'm unable to take experts seriously and be open and honest with them.

well i mean aside from the usage of the qualifier "interestingly" since i don't really find your displayed abnormalities all that interesting.

the abnormalities you describe yourself as having could easily fit several people i know from high school.

you're not as abnormal and unique as you purport.
